UALIFICATIONS:

 

 

 

Education: 

 

 

 

Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelors’ degree and a master’s degree in educational administration or a related field and appropriate New York State administrative certification as a School District Administrator (SDA), School District Leader (SDL) or other certificate that the Superintendent may find appropriate or equivalent.

 

 

 

Experience: 

 

 

 

1.         At least five years successful experience in education or a related field including teaching, supervision, and/or administration.

 

2          Experience in both instruction and administrative computer applications.

 

3.         A valid New York State certificate as a School District Administrator, and experience as a teacher of a relevant subject area.

 

4.         Demonstrated skills in working with people and facilitating decisions.

 

5.         Willingness to work as a member of a team and ability to support District goals and direction.

 

6.         Knowledge of national and state trends as they relate to instructional and administrative computing.           

 

7.         Proven success in working with groups to problem-solve and facilitate decisions.

 

8.         Understanding of database design and management, library automation, analytical software, web management, instructional software applications, and network operations

 

9.         Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be substituted as the Superintendent may find appropriate and equivalent.

 

 

 

Valid license to drive in NYS

 

 

 

SALARY GRADE:  As per Brockport Administrators Association Agreement.

 

 

 

WORK YEAR/DAY:  12 months/8 hours per day

 

 

 

REPORTS TO:  Assistant to the Superintendent

 

 

 

SUPERVISES:  Technology Staff and others as designated by the Assistant to the Superintendent.

 

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

 

To assist in providing leadership and coordination for the District’s instructional and administrative computer programs. To plan, direct, and administer efficient cost effective computer applications designed to increase productivity and enhance learning.

 

 

 

 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS:

 

1.      Assist in developing and reviewing annually the District’s long range plan for educational and administrative computing.

 

2.      Supervises the uniform implementation of the K-12 computer education curriculum.

 

3.      Works with staff development personnel to plan appropriate in-service activities based on program needs.

 

4.      Conducts classroom observations of personnel directly involved with the computer education and technology programs.

 

5.      Aids and advises the administration on specific teaching assignments to enhance the computer education program.

 

6.      Assists in the development of the administrative and educational computer budgets.

 

7.      Reviews annually and revises as needed the maintenance and upkeep plan for the District’s educational and administrative computer hardware to ensure efficient operation.

 

8.      Serves as liaison with outside agencies delivering computer hardware and software services to the District.

 

9.      Develops and coordinates programs to increase computer availability and use during and after regular school hours.

 

10.  Facilitates the selection and acquisition of computer-related supplies, materials, equipment.

 

11.  Maintains high visibility in buildings in working with staff and students.

 

12.  Supports all staff to enable them to effectively embed instructional technology and perform desired computer operations.

 

13.  Is responsible for the administration and oversight of District Technology Systems and related security, including but not limited to internal and external access, threats, security of data, password maintenance and maintaining a procedure to document access and changes to the above.

 

14.  Coordinates the installation of wiring for computer networks and arranges for the set-up of computers and computer labs in district buildings.

 

15.  Coordinates district use of BOCES educational computing, audio visual and printing services and special services from other computer vendors. Monitors the CoSers in implementation and coordinates activities with BOCES.

 

16.  Assist in designing, implementing, and ensuring compliance relative to Federal and State regulations governing the use of instructional and information technology.

 

17.  Keeps current regarding changes and developments concerning FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

 

18. Establishes and maintains regular written and verbal communications with stakeholders regarding pertinent IT practices and procedures.

 

19.  Oversees the development of communication systems, such as telecommunication and voicemail systems, emergency notification products, e-mail, and other forms of communications to facilitate decision-making, dialogue, and effective communication with members of the school community.

 

20.  Assist in coordinating disaster recovery plans and security protocols with staff as appropriate.

 

21.  Serves as a member of the Instructional and Leadership Councils.

 

22   Performs such other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant to the Superintendent.
