Salary: $62,000-$79,000 Yearly Salary

OB SUMMARY
Under supervision of Assistant Superintendent, the director will organize and manage the District’s technology and data functions.  The director will also support and maintain all technology and data needs district-wide. The Director must be able to work effectively in a supervisory capacity and be able to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and electronically.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION

May include, but not limited to:

  1. Supervise District technology support staff and coordinate effective, efficient responses to all technology support needs and perform staff evaluations.
  2. Direct the design, maintenance and installation of the school site and district information systems, networks, associated technologies and client-based applications.
  3. Maintain the student information system and provide user training to facilitate the common use of the systems data.
  4. Provide district-wide technology support in collaboration with technology support staff.
  5. Schedule and perform repairs, installation of hardware and software, maintenance of technology equipment district-wide, in collaboration with technology support staff. Including the implementation and maintenance of the Wide Area Network, Local Area Networks and connectivity to the internet.
  6. Input, maintain and update the District technology work order system, prioritize all work orders, and provide reports of work in the queue and completed as needed.
  7. Maintain and update district hardware and software inventory and coordinate the maintenance and renewal of all service and software contracts.
  8. Organize and coordinate the purchase and dispersal of District technology equipment orders. Obtain bids/quotes from vendors.
  9. Install and support personal productivity applications.
  10. Evaluate, configure, and maintain the following Enterprise environments: Active Directory, virus protection, automated desktop environment imaging and patching. 
  11. Develop and maintain desktop and server configuration standards. 
  12. Maintain site licenses for school sites, departments, and District. 
  13. Lead new system development, continued enhancement of existing systems and implementation of system modification to ensure expected results and prevent negative impact to existing functions and processes throughout District.
  14. Evaluate, define and implement technology within the District.
  15. Receive, assemble, inspect and test equipment to determine feasibility of repair. 
  16. Understand the issues, goals, objectives of District IT Dept. and translate that information into action items and requirements for support.
  17. Collaborate closely with the COE IT staff to ensure compliance with County system requirements, network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users. 
  18. Collaborate regularly with representatives of the COE IT staff, systems vendors, peers, and user groups to continually improve District system performance and personal system expertise.
  19. Serve as the primary liaison between COE IT staff and administrative or instructional departments, school sites and external offices Work with technology vendors to understand, support and enhance products and services purchased for the District. 
  20. Provide requirements to vendors for system modifications. 
  21. Communicate with vendors, suppliers, District administrators and personnel concerning parts, equipment and program operations and new technology; maintains records and prepares reports related to equipment inventory, maintenance, installation, warranties and system defects.
  22. Other projects and related duties as assigned within the scope of this job classification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Application of:

Current technology infrastructure, wirings, and networking for district; working knowledge of a variety of software programs; knowledge of the operation and limitations of computer systems and related equipment.

 

Ability to:

  • Supervise district technology staff
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and correct minor computer and peripheral equipment problems;
  • Train others in basic troubleshooting techniques;
  • Work with both PC and Macintosh equipment and operating systems;
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive communications and student information

Education/Experience:

Knowledge of and experience with network configurations in a windows environment.

Knowledge of technical skills necessary to maintain a technological support program.

 

Minimum AA degree in Information Technology, BA desirable

Coursework in educational technology, computer sciences or business applications desirable.

 

2 years’ experience in the management, administration and supervision of a school district technology department, support setting or equivalent.

 

 

Conditions of Employment:
