Description

To provide leadership, vision, direction, and coordination of technology efforts and creative services for various programs and administrative units within University College. Direct the operations of the Technology, Media and Design area in University College, including development, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of academic, programmatic and administrative computing technology, programs using distance and other technologies, and instructional media and technology services. Direct creative services for the college, including supervision of creative services staff. Reports to the Associate Dean, University College.

Additional Basic Function - if applicable:

The position responsibilities are approximately 70% technology related and 30% creative services related. The incumbent should have experience in monitoring budgets, managing multiple projects, and directing staff and student employees and a combination of experience in technology (broadly), assessment, web applications/multimedia development, graphic design, marketing, or related fields.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Plan, direct, and provide leadership and execute special projects.

Work with Associate Dean, college directors and college staff to identify technology and training needs related to student success. Ensure that technology integration is in accordance with industry best practices.

Direct creative services (editing, graphic design, photograph) and production of strategic print and web-based communications, ensuring integration of key marketing messages and adherence to university-wide standards. Lead best practices for creative services including print, digital, web, mobile, and social media.

Serve as liaison to university offices and committees supporting technology use and creative services.

Develop, implement, and evaluate technology training efforts for staff.

Evaluate technology operations; research and evaluate new technologies and purchase recommended equipment; coordinate installation, maintenance, and use of equipment for the college.

Coordinate and execute a technology refresh program for the college.

Assist in the effective implementation of creative services and technology-based teaching and learning in other ways, as needed.

Provide budget development, resource reallocation, and resource deployment.

Provide direct supervision of unclassified staff and student employees

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in a combination of areas such as: technology, assessment, web applications/multimedia development, graphic design, marketing, instructional technology, instructional design, or related fields; to include experience with monitoring budgets, managing multiple projects, and directing staff and student employees.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
