  • Lead the assessment and implementation of new systems, working closely with the functional subject matter experts, Controller’s Office (CTO), Project Management Office (PMO) and other ITS staff. Facilitate the definition of system requirements, maintain interim deliverables’ deadlines, and develop and oversee testing activities.
    • Oversee the work with end users of Oracle Financial applications to identify and document system requirements and translate into effective solutions; the development, testing, migration and implementation of new functionality, processes, and reports; and testing activities for systems modifications, improvements, and defect corrections.
    • Manage the design and implementation of procedural guidance for new and 3rd party systems, including campus-wide communication and training, consistent with established IT principles and practices.
    • Oversee the development, support and maintenance of relational databases and systems, including Funddriver, Access, data warehouse and other relational database technology. Lead design and testing activities for information feeds to and from outside vendors and systems.
    • Manage the work with Controller Office staff to define process interfaces with the general ledger and engage continuously with functional subject matter experts to develop and maintain appropriate documentation for the procedures used in administering the functions of new and 3rd party systems.
    • Lead the development of reporting for management decision-making including, but not limited to, Campus Solutions, the datawarehouse, Kronos timekeeping, Oracle, EiS and other relational databases.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Controller’s organization and Oracle systems. Specific responsibilities include:
    • Manage the Oracle functional system administration function (FSA). The FSA works closely with staff in HR, Accounting/Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Procurement, and ITS to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the Oracle financial applications including system security and access, implementation of system enhancements, patches and upgrades with specific responsibility for Oracle GL, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Accounting Receivable and Purchasing.
    • Manage the relationship between the Controller’s organization, internal service providers (ITS technical and operations staff) and external vendors (Oracle On-Demand) regarding system issues relating to the Oracle Financial applications including application of patches, status of TAR’s, system upgrades, database maintenance, etc. 
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of documentation related to the Oracle General Ledger applications and related processes, including CTO and University Wikis and the Controller’s web page.
  • Lead the Controller’s Office in all aspects of information security practice and compliance.
    • Oversee and report annually on Controllers’ departments’ compliance with Information Security Office Standards (ISO) including the Information Access and Protection Standard (IAP), a categorical listing of all information retained through its life cycle (e.g., creation, transfer, storage and disposal).
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of system security access for end users of CTO drives and system application including Oracle. Ensure and oversee compliance with university security policies.
  • Complete special projects as requested by management.
  • Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training/professional development annually (or a pro rata amount based on standard working hours). Training must be applicable to the employee’s role current within the Controller’s Division with the intent of enhancing overall knowledge as well as the specific skills, whether functional or technical, required to perform successfully in the position.

Controller's Office, Finance and Administration Division

Provide operational and strategic leadership for the suite of IT tools and services that support the mission of the Controller’s Office. Working closely with Controller and Information Technology Services (ITS) staff, assist in the assessment and design of new technology solutions, and serve as Controller’s project leader for system implementations.
 

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • BS with a minimum of eight to ten years related experience required, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience with project management including demonstrated success in ERP and supporting system assessment, redesign and implementation; agile programming; and functional finance/accounting IT.
  • Experience working with an enterprise-wide financial system with advanced PC skills, extensive knowledge of report writing tools for integrated database technology, Excel, Access and project management tools; and advance knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Advanced report creation experience in relational databases.
  • Strong analytical skills are critical to the success of this position.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and accuracy; strong quantitative and problem solving skills, good judgment, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to interact with diverse constituencies and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; and a desire to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to calibrate short and long term needs effectively and translate them into plans and recommendations that can be explored and coordinated with colleagues resulting in improved IT projects and services.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, high integrity, demonstrated aptitude and desire to work as a member of a team and a proven record of being proactive in the performance of all job related functions. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise professional judgment in carrying-out assigned responsibilities required.

 

Required Minimum Education Level

BS 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, MS in a related discipline, and/or Project Management certification (PM).
  • Experience with project management including demonstrated success in ERP and supporting system assessment, redesign and implementation; agile programming; and functional finance/accounting IT required, in higher education or other related not-for-profit setting, preferred.
  •  Knowledge of Oracle and People Soft, strongly preferred.
