POSITION PURPOSE:  The Middle School Educational Technologist is responsible for assisting faculty to create dynamic learning environments for students as a key part of the one-to-one technology program in grades 5-8.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partner with EdTech team, administration and faculty to develop best-fit solutions for technology integration across disciplines
  • Provide direct guidance and support in the use of technology for teaching faculty
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of technology in curricula, course materials and methods of instruction
  • Provide formal training and professional development for faculty
  • Provide administrative and technical support for instructional technology to improve learning outcomes
  • Guest-teach and co-teach across disciplines
  • Partner with faculty to design rubrics, lessons guides and class materials
  • Maintain records of progress with classroom technology efforts
  • Supervise student spaces, instruct students individually and in groups
  • Maintain contact with students and parents with effective and regular communication
  • Provide a variety of resources for children to explore, manipulate and use technology in classroom and other school environments
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of middle school programs
  • Maintain expertise in field through ongoing professional development (attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops), demonstrating a commitment to field of study or knowledge of learning styles
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate work in education or educational technology
  • 5+ years’ experience as a middle-school educator
  • Experience using iPads and cloud services in a one-to-one environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology in curriculum design
  • Experience in curricular design, inquiry-based learning, computer science, robotics, and/or classroom teaching are desirable
