The Technology Integrator/Educational Technology Specialist is a full time, twelve-month position.  The primary responsibility is to provide exceptional information literacy, technology integration and curricular support for students and faculty.  Daily tasks revolve around providing students and faculty with training and classes to learn ethical, effective use of information and technology in order to enhance their understanding of the world around them.  Class sessions are scheduled in coordination with the Information Commons and Innovation Center Specialists to assure that all students receive instruction in all three areas: information literacy, technology integration, and design theory.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver educational technology and information literacy classes to students in Lower School with primary responsibility for grades pre-Kindergarten through fourth grades and secondary responsibility for grades five through twelve

  • Schedule appropriate coverage of classes with Media Services/Innovations Center Specialists to ensure that all information literacy and technology goals and skills are met 

  • Provide students and faculty with instruction in use of print, online and technology resources

  • Collaborate directly with faculty to enhance their curriculum and the experience of their students through the mindful use of information technology 

  • Provide training for students and faculty on use of Information Commons equipment and research databases 

  • Support special functions and events held in the Information Commons

  • Troubleshoot equipment and systems access issues for students and faculty

  • Organize and administer special interest student groups 

  • Assist with circulation and curation of print and technology resources through the Information Commons

  • Assist with data integration into student information systems

  • Assist as needed with Information Commons Help Hub desk

  • Assist with the cataloging and management of all Information Commons equipment

  • Assist with daily operations of the Information Commons including supervising common areas

  • Assist with cataloging print resources and annual inventory of all Information Commons assets

  • Attend grade level and department meetings as needed for curriculum planning and delivery

  • Assist with organization and direction of Information Commons student and parent volunteers

  • Adhere to the ISTE Educator Standards and infuse the principles of continuous learning, leadership, digital citizenship, and collaboration

  • Other tasks as identified by the school

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Computer Science, or related field

  • Capable of learning and training others on a variety of computer applications and operations

  • Ability to troubleshoot a variety of equipment

  • Capacity to train non-technical staff on school hardware and software

  • Experience with online library catalog systems or inventory systems

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong commitment to client service and support

  • Demonstrated interest in working with children from early childhood through teenagers valuing diversity and the accomplishments of different learners and the whole child

  • A good sense of humor, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Knowledge and familiarity with library technology standards and protocol

  • Project management experience

  • Work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and constituencies

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work

  • Ability to work independently and with colleagues in a team environment

  • Proficient in basic office administration, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools

  • Ability to take directions from more than one person

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work in a sometimes highly active environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts

  • May work at a desk and computer or stand for extended periods of time

  • Be able to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally

  • Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled office environment and may also work in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat
