Educational Technology Specialist
The Hoosic Valley Central School District is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time, 12-month Educational Technology Specialist position. Listed are a portion of the general duties and qualifications as prepared by Rensselaer County Civil Service.
GENERAL DUTIES - This technical position exists in the school district and involves responsibility for designing, administering and participating in the maintenance, repair and operation of computer networks. The work involves the installation of network equipment and analyzing hardware and software problems. Thorough knowledge of micro-computer and product technology; good knowledge of the operation and configuration of local area networks; good knowledge of logical operations of micro-computers and data communication devices; working knowledge of data processing methodology and techniques; ability to define and recommend micro-computer hardware and software; ability to detect and resolve computer equipment and software breakdowns and problems; good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of file servers, routers and hubs; ability to create and implement network design and installation of hardware and software; ability to work with customers to implement technology plans; ability to work as part of a team and assume leadership role; micro-computer literacy, tact and courtesy.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either:
a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology, information technology, data processing, management information systems or related field and one (1) year of experience responsible for the installation, maintenance, and configuration of microcomputer hardware and software for local area networks; or
b) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate's Degree in computer science, computer technology, information technology, data processing, management information systems, or related field and three (3) years of experience as defined in (a) above; or
c) Network Certification (CNE) from a vendor Authorized Center and three (3) years of experience as defined in (a) above.
Salary: $65,000
