Position Summary

This position provides direct benefit to School of Medicine faculty in teaching roles and to students in courses within the Foundation Phase of the MD program. The individual in this role consults with faculty on the implementation of educational technology in the new Foundation Phase curriculum and works directly with students to ensure that they are able to participate fully in the technology-dependent elements of the new curriculum. The individual in this role will be responsible for understanding the educational design of the TEC 2.0 curriculum and the critical ways that technologies are leveraged as teaching and learning tools within it. Across the 18-month Foundation Phase, over 30 faculty clinician educators will teach in the Foundation Phase curriculum. The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring that these educators are prepared to implement the design of TEC 2.0, especially as it pertains to educational technology elements, in order to maintain fidelity to the curricular redesign and support student learning. This will include direct classroom support, faculty development on purpose and implementation of educational technology elements of the curriculum, and consultative services with faculty and students. The individual in this role must develop and maintain close working relationships with faculty, students, and the Foundation Phase team. As the new Foundation Phase curriculum is implemented, the individual in this role will be responsible for the development of new teaching strategies and use of new educational technologies in support of the ongoing improvement of the TEC 2.0 curriculum and student success in the MD program. This position is 100% in onsite.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in education, special education, instructional design, educational technology, educational media, or related discipline with coursework in curriculum development or learning theory; or a Bachelor's degree in the assigned discipline and two years of experience in teaching, educational testing, or instructional design and curriculum development; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong organization and time management skills, obvious leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a willingness to initiate or take on new and challenging assignments, and a spirit of cooperation among colleagues and constituents. The ideal candidate has experience supporting others to learn and implement new educational technologies.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Bachelor's or master's degree in education or educational technology preferred but not required.
Experience with Canvas or other similar learning management systems, Poll Everywhere, and other educational technology is ideal.
Ability to establish rapport and relate well to students, faculty, employers, and staff.
Ability to utilize technology in the organization and management of projects.
Proficiency in all aspects of computer operations essential including, strong working knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel.
A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to operate with minimal daily supervision required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to proactively identify issues and develop creative solutions.
Understanding and acknowledgement of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the delivery of programs and services.
