The Educational Technology Support Manager is responsible for managing the Computer/Audio Visual Education (CAVE) Helpdesk and the Information Technology Internship Program. This role is critical to the overall function of the organization by ensuring quality support to members of the Duchesne community, including students, teachers and staff. As a team member of the Technology Department this position requires a patient problem solver with the ability to think and react quickly, multi-task, and prioritize. This position requires flexibility, initiative, great attention to organization and details, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an environment with adults and children. The Educational Technology Support Manager reports directly to the Technology Director and is a 12-month position.

 

Experience teaching or leading youth in a K-12 environment is essential.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Helpdesk Support

  • Review helpdesk tickets by reviewing hourly, to schedule work and ensure the Service Level Agreement of the helpdesk.
  • Ensure accuracy of documentation and ticket status as work is completed.
  • Manage quality checks on all repairs.
  • Maintain inventory including faculty/staff and student laptops, loaner laptops and parts, spare parts and supplies
  • Manage deployment and relocations of computer workstations
  • Provide statistics on helpdesk repairs including SLA, manufacturer, model per month
  • Manage tools and supplies needed for the helpdesk and computer repairs
  • Maintain Helpdesk Policy and Procedures Manuals in OneNote Notebook documenting configuration, and protocols and procedures of the helpdesk and systems managed
  • Communicate with parents as needed about student laptop repair status and concerns, as needed.
  • Uphold policies set forth by the Technology Committee on computer related issues such as copyrighting, viruses, intellectual property and computer use and etiquette.
  • Represent Duchesne in communications with repair partners, schedule outsourced laptop repairs, and coordinate with Toshiba to facilitate repairs and training.

 

Information Technology Internship Program (IT Interns)

  • Recruit and interview Upper School student applicants
  • Design, coordinate, and implement summer training for IT Interns
  • Work with Interns to coordinate setup and documentation of new computers each August, including student training during New Student Out of Box Day
  • Manage intern schedules during the summer and school year
  • Coordinate tasks & training of IT Interns in hardware and software competencies
  • Design, manage, and assess student skills and assignments, and maintain gradebook
  • Maintain Atlas curriculum documentation and standards alignment for IT Internship Program

 

Technical Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair devices on campus including computers, printers, projectors, and LCD kiosks.
  • Monitor laptop parts ordering via T-claim to ensure expedient repairs and payment for repairs completed.
  • Software support (Microsoft Office 365, 2013, 2016, Windows 8-10, OSX, iOS, Android, and various educational software as used by classroom teachers)
  • Coordinate with Technology Team regarding software needed for images
  • Create and manage computer software images in conjunction with Network Specialist.
  • Support campus Audio/Visual solutions with Technical Specialist

 

Team membership

  • As a member of the Technology Department, meet weekly to review schedules, tasks, projects and update staff on current trends in Microsoft Office 365
  • Attend Technology Committee meetings to contribute to discussions, work of investigating and vetting new technologies, coordinating technology initiatives, and making recommendations for technology policy at Duchesne.
  • As a member of Computer Studies Department, contribute to discussions and work of curriculum alignment and development in the area of computer studies.

 

Essential skills

  • The ability to proactively identify and prioritize projects and manage time wisely
  • Professional written and verbal language skills are required
  • Ability to support a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Experience working with Apple O/S and iPads is a plus
  • Mobile Device Management
  • Manage a helpdesk ticketing system

 

Personal Growth

  • Maintain current knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Apple O/S
  • Maintain current certifications: COMP TIA A+ Technician and Toshiba CST certification.
  • Attend professional seminars, conventions, training, webinars and read technical journals.

Create and maintain professional contacts with vendors

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required

  • Four Year Degree in Business or Education, or another field specializing in Instructional Technology or Information Technology Management

  • Teaching experience in a PreK - 12 environment, preferably in independent schools

  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks
  • Completion of Virtus: Protecting God's Children training
  • Current CPR certification

Benefits

Social Security and Medicare Tax Short Term Disability
The federal government mandates that both you and Duchesne contribute 6.2% of your annual salary to the Social Security program and 1.45% of your salary to the Medicare program. The School also provides a short term disability policy to eligible employees. The Short Term Disability policy offers up to 42 calendar days of paid leave at 100% of salary for an injury or sickness which prevents the employee from working. The policy also covers the birth of a child.

Medical and Dental Insurance
Duchesne's group health plan provides medical and dental coverage to you and your dependents. The school contributes approximately 80% of the cost of employee only coverage. If you choose to cover your dependents, the school contributes approximatly 50% of their coverage. Employee contributions may be remitted on a pre-tax basis.

Worker's Compensation
The School maintains workers' compensation insurance on your behalf. This insurance covers certain medical expenses and loss of income due to a work-related injury or illness.

Retirement Plan
Life Insurance Those employees that are employed at least 30 hours per week, have one year of service and are at least 23 years of age are eligible to receive a contribution of 5% of base salary to the Duchesne Academy retirement plan with TIAA/CREF. No matching contribution is required. Employees may also contribute additional pre-tax earnings to a supplemental retirement account with TIAA/CREF.
Duchesne provides a group term life insurance policy. The policy will pay a benefit of one times your annual salary to your designated beneficiaries in the event of your death

Voluntary Life Insurance
Duchesne offers additional life insurance to employees and their spouses through a voluntary life insurance policy that provides from $25,000 to $500,000 of coverage at competitive rates. Employees may also insure their spouse for $25,000 up to $250,000 and their dependent children for $10,000. Employees are responsible for the cost of this coverage.

Pre-tax Flexible Spending Accounts
Duchesne's IRS Code Section 125 (Cafeteria) Plan allows each employee to designate pre-tax deductions into a flexible spending account to cover eligible uninsured medical expenses and/or dependent care expenses.

Long Term Disability Other benefits:
The school provides you with a long-term disability policy. In general, after 90 days of total disability due to injury or illness, the policy will pay an amount equal to 60% of your salary until you recover or until you reach age 65.
