Position/Job Summary

Provide support for faculty and students relating to emergent technology applications and services used across the academic community. Remain current with emergent and innovative technologies used in teaching and learning across modalities and learning spaces and recommend solutions for the use of instructional methods and learning technology. Collaborate with leadership and the academic community in recommending and selecting learning technologies and implement and maintain learning technologies that are selected.

Position/Job Responsibilities

1. Provide technical support and consultation services related to emergent and innovative technology applications and services to the academic community at Ithaca College.

2. Collaborate with the Associate Director and Director of Teaching and Learning with Technology to provide faculty and students emergent and innovative learning technologies that improve the teaching and learning experience and student learning outcomes. Assist in evaluating the results of such collaborations to inform the strategic and operational direction of the unit.

3. Assist with installing, maintaining, and resolving problems with workstations, provide user account management services, ensure software licensing agreements are met prior to installation, assist faculty and students with wireless connectivity, and troubleshoot and report network problems to other IT team members.

4. Assist with informing the academic community of emergent and innovative learning technologies including experimentation, piloting and/or adoption. In collaboration with others, remain current in processes related to learning technologies that are adopted by the College; apply disruption and innovation theoretical models in the analysis of emergent and innovative academic technologies.

5. Ensure faculty and students can effectively utilize technology resources available in learning spaces and work in collaboration with others to ensure instructional equipment and applications remain functional.

6. Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

7. Coordinate exemplary support services for learning spaces including discipline-specific software and hardware that is supported by IT.

8. Remain current with trends, research, and best practices in emergent and innovative learning technology, next generation learning environments, and innovative practices.

9. Provide second tier support services that originate from the academic community and are related to teaching and learning at Ithaca College. Consult with the academic community and participate in learning technology evaluation, piloting, and implementation of projects; work in collaboration with others to identify opportunities for faculty and/or student development to meet curricular needs.

10. Ensure that a quality program of support services is continuously offered; meet regularly with others responsible for technology within schools and IC instructors for continuous improvement to technical support.

11. Participate in solution teams as assigned, contributing knowledge of the academy at Ithaca College, collaborating on items such as process improvement, implementation strategies, and continuous service improvement.

Position/Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' experience in the application of technology and practices or the equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge and experience in installing and supporting technology; technical aptitude in learning technologies; experience working with both Windows and MacIntosh operating systems and learning applications like Learning Management Systems; strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; excellent customer service, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to operate with minimal supervision; ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems; ability to maintain confidentiality and the ability to guide the work of student employees are required.

Advanced coursework relating to emergent technology, learning technology innovation, human interaction with automation, or instructional computing and the ability to operate and troubleshoot multi-media presentation systems and other classroom-related equipment, and experience working in a college or university setting are preferred.
