Purdue University Libraries, a recognized leader in information literacy, scholarly communication initiatives, and research data management, seeks an Engineering Information Specialist (EIS) to join its faculty.  With an emphasis on teaching and scholarship, the EIS will join a collaborative team of information professionals who participate in a well-established program of information literacy instruction, research data management services, scholarly publishing services, and will contribute to the research and scholarship in these areas. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  An Engineering Information Specialist acts as a liaison between two to four departments in the College of Engineering and/or the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, teaches information-related courses, workshops, and single sessions; participates in the development of informed learning activities in support of the University’s core curriculum that requires both foundational and embedded information literacy outcomes for all undergraduates;   participates in interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects, including sponsored research, within the Libraries, the College of Engineering and/or the Purdue Polytechnic Institute; makes connections between engineering, engineering technology, and other disciplinary faculty and with units of the Libraries to enable greater research productivity, sustainable publication and dissemination of scholarship and data, and contributes to Libraries-wide initiatives, engagement with local, national, and global audiences and organizations as appropriate, and participates in faculty governance of the Libraries.  As a member of the Libraries faculty, the EIS must articulate a research agenda that explores questions within their area of specialization, resulting in a scholarly publication record required for promotion and tenure at Purdue University.

Salary and benefits:

Salary commensurate with experience in the context of Purdue University’s salary structure.

Faculty tenure-track position with a twelve-month appointment. Rank of assistant or associate professor.  Start-up funds in support of research are provided for computer/software/equipment, for travel/professional development, and for a half time graduate assistant for two years.

Relocation funding will be available and discussed on a case-by-case basis.
