Department Summary
Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of IT Programs & Projects, the Enterprise IT Project Manager plans, implements, and monitors complex, technical, enterprise-wide IT projects and initiatives for Information Services. The Enterprise IT Project Manager reviews vendor proposals, monitors work and fiscal performance, and leads specific projects as assigned. The Enterprise IT Project Manager provides advice and consultation to units, departments, schools, colleges, key business stakeholders and external vendors. This position leads and engages in all aspects of Project Management including project initiation, implementation, designing the phases, vendor management, risk analysis and management, tracking, data analytics, communications, and completion. The Enterprise IT Project Manager will be responsible for successful delivery of large scale, highly complex IT projects with senior-level administrators and stakeholders and ensures use of standardized project management methodologies, processes and tools. The incumbent will have a comprehensive knowledge of information technology consisting of an understanding of applications, networks, systems and infrastructure, and will leverage this knowledge to effectively support information technology projects within Information Services as well as around the University. 

This position provides oversight and coordination with other project resources and operational support personnel as appropriate. The Enterprise IT Project Manager is expected to deliver within approved budgets and schedules while maintaining the highest quality standards. 

This position regularly requires the exercise of independent judgement and will work both independently as well as within a team. Problems the incumbent will handle are highly varied, complex and often non-recurring which may require creative approaches to resolutions. Decisions that the Enterprise IT Project Manager makes have significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a division and entire organization. Decisions can have impact on functions across the university, departments, direct teams, vendors, suppliers, contractors, students, and other external agencies and institutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience. 

  • Three years of experience with Enterprise IT related project management.

  • Experience leading IT projects in a complex organization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology consisting of an understanding of Applications, Systems, Networks, and Infrastructure as it relates to IT project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Project management experience in a higher education environment. 

  • IT work experience within higher education.
