Primary Purpose:

 

Facilitate the effective use of computers and other technology in instructional programs district-wide. Assist in the development of short and long-range plans for the integration of technology into the instructional program. Implement and coordinate the technology staff development and training program. Facilitate the application of technology to management productivity. Lead and direct the design of the technological infrastructure of the district, including network operations, network operating systems and the network operations center. Maintenance of the Wide Area Network. Build level Local Area Networks. Create a system that ensures that the network and district technology devices are secure.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification

 

  • Master’s degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate, Mid-Management certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of computer and network hardware and software applications
  • Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional settings
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Stays current with new technology research

Experience

  • Three years of experience working with computer and network hardware and instructional software applications
  • Three years’ experience in a supervisory role

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies
  • Collaborates with the Curriculum Department to support research and district studies to improve the content and outcomes of the teaching and learning process
  • Supports data collection and maintenance of instructional systems for interpreting, reporting results
  • Provides technology awareness and leadership development among directors, administrators, educators and learners
  • Supports the development, implementation of innovative instructional programs to achieve identified needs
  • Coordinates with instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs and to support the development of rigorous learning experiences
  • Facilitates the use of technology and instructional technology in the learning process
  • Utilizes program evaluation outcomes, feedback from educators, administrators, and parents to improve technology implementation and processes
  • Secures consultants, specialists and other community resources to assist in attaining implementation objectives

Student Growth and Development

  • Collaborates with the Curriculum Department to secure and maintain learner devices and resources

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Maintains data and systems to facilitate classroom management district-wide.

Communication

  • Provides two-way communication with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, executive directors, directors, principals, and community
  • Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents and educators.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Provides leadership and technical expertise to principals and other district personnel in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective instructional technology throughout the district.
  • Supports staff development to teachers and administrators in methods involving technology in the delivery of curriculum.

Curriculum Development

  • Provides leadership in selecting digital resources and providing access to students and staff to facilitate work and engaged learning.
  • Assists in integrating technology into the existing instructional programs.
  • Maintains state of the art knowledge of technology development and provide planning and development in accordance with District Technology Plan and current trends.
  • Develops and implements a continuing evaluation of the instructional technology program and implement changes based on the findings.
  • Participates in activities that promote district and community relations.

Technical Support

  • Assists with the bidding process, purchase, distribution, maintenance, and installation of hardware, software, and other technological equipment and materials within instructional programs.
  • Serves as liaison to outside vendors that provide support for technology equipment and materials.

Budget and Inventory

  • Administers the instructional technology budget and ensure that the program is cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
  • Develops a strategy and identifies appropriate funding to establish both short-range and long-range plans for technical support, repairs and training to inform the District Technology Plan.
  • Coordinates the selection of technology equipment and software, and devises a plan for sustainability and replacement.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures regarding technology issues for both students and staff.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Follows directions established by the superintendent and Board of Trustees
  • Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of instructional technology.
  • Reviews and updates the Responsible Use Policy as needed.

Personnel Management

  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of personnel and makes sound recommendations relative to placement, assignment, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Evaluates the performance of technology personnel to ensure effectiveness.
  • Develops training options and improvement plans for technology personnel to ensure best operation of programs.

Other

  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of Technology Department personnel.
