Fabrication and Publications Design Teacher
‘Iolani School is seeking for a publications design and fabrication teacher to teach in our innovation department (iDept). The fabrication and publications design teacher will teach and provide design and fabrication support for our iDepartment classes, which includes our school newspaper (the ‘Imua) and yearbook (Ka Mo’olelo O ‘Iolani). In addition to these two classes, the fabrication and publications design teacher works, often times in collaboration with others, but sometimes independently, on miscellaneous school fabrication projects. These projects vary in scope and include smaller works such as trophies and school gifts to larger works, such as building facade installations and set design for school productions. He/she will also work with faculty to support curricular projects.
Candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of teaching experience. The ideal candidate should have experience with, or a willingness to learn how to operate and assist others with the following machinery: laser cutter, water jet, shopbot, CNC mill, and traditional woodworking machinery (table saw, chop saw, planer, band saw, drill press, etc.)
