Brief description:
|
The job responsibilities of the Head of Educational Technology focus on the leadership of K-12 innovation and educational technology integration at ISL; the development, organisation and administration of the school’s teaching and learning information systems and oversight of the administrative information systems;
The Head of Educational Technology is expected to be a contributing member of the School Leadership Team and of the School Operational Team.

Profile: (training, experience, skills and aptitudes necessary to do the job)
|
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in appropriate subject (MA strongly preferred);
- Current teaching certificate or equivalent required;
- A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in a large international school;
- Proven experience in developing vision and strategy for the role of innovative technology within teaching and learning
- Proven successful experience in leading and managing a team;
- Experience with assessing a school’s technology needs with respect to teaching and learning, hardware, software, policies and procedures
- Familiarity with both PC and Macintosh platforms on a common network;
- Experience implementing and maintaining Learning Management Systems
- Recent experience with managing extensive budget;
- Recent experience with overseeing a large computer network and inventories;
- Proven experience working in a “1 to World” / BYOD environment for students;
- Experienced in working in a collaborative teaching environment;
- Absolute fluency in English (near-native speaker level) with French or German an advantage.

Among main responsibilities:
|
- Teaching and Learning
- Ensure that the School has an innovative vision and strategy for educational technology
- Collaborate, as part of the School Leadership Team, to integrate technology into the teaching and learning K-12
- Design and implement educational technology professional development
- Provide leadership and support to Technology Integration Facilitators and Faculty to help them use current educational technology resources appropriately and effectively
- Provide recommendations for hardware and software for staff and student use
- Monitor and assess the success of technology integration across the School.
- Management and Leadership
- Meet regularly with the Director and report on technology-related issues;
- Collaborate, as part of the School Operational Team, on all strategic initiatives which involve technology
- Provide leadership and planning for all technology initiatives
- Provide leadership and direction to the IT Team
- Maintain and update the Educational Technology Vision, plan and oversee all IT documentation
- Oversee the IT budget and all software and hardware purchases
- Oversee technology compliance with Business Continuity planning
- Proactively ensure that all ISL projects support the Educational Technology vision
- Work with the Head of Communications to assist in the structuring of the school’s overall communication systems
- Organise and chair the Technology Committee
- Hardware and Software
- Provide highest-level support and advice for issues that are escalated from other IT staff;
- Collaborate with operations staff to advise and choose and utilize appropriate hardware and software;
- Oversee effective management of school databases and servers (including, but not limited to): AFAS Accounting Server, Outlook Email, INSIS School Information System, Learning Management System, Microsoft Active Directory, Remote Access (Terminal) Server
- Oversee development of documentation for managing school hardware and software and for disaster recovery
- Oversee appropriate management and protection of ISL’s data
- Ensure compliance with School policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection
- Such other duties as may be requested by Principals or assigned by the Director.
