Role Summary:

The job responsibilities of the Head of ICT / Assistant Principal include the coordination of K-12 technology integration; the organization and administration of the school’s academic and administrative information systems; the coordination and facilitation of technology professional development and in-service opportunities for faculty and staff; the support, recruiting, training and supervision of the technology support staff and technology learning facilitators; and the development and management of the technology budget, including purchasing and installation of hardware and software. This Head of ICT / Assistant Principal is expected to be a contributing member of the School Leadership Team and of the School Operational Team.

Supports ISL Strategic Plan by: Ensuring that the students and staff receive the leadership and support necessary to integrate technology fully into the curriculum and into their daily work as well as help promote efficient communication between all sectors of the ISL community through the use of technology.

Reports to: Director.

Is Responsible for: Technology Integration Facilitators, Database Manager, Network Administrator, Technology Support Specialists.

Profile: (training, experience, skills and aptitudes necessary to do the job)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in appropriate subject (MA strongly preferred);
Current teaching certificate or equivalent required;
A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in a large international school;
Proven experience in developing vision and strategy for the role of technology within education;
Experience with assessing a school’s technology needs with respect to curriculum, hardware, software, policies, and procedures;
Familiarity with both PC and Macintosh platforms on a common network;
Experience implementing and maintaining Google Apps for Education and Office 365 systems;
Recent experience with managing extensive budget;
Recent experience with overseeing an large computer network and inventories;
Proven experience working in a BYOD environment for students;
Absolute fluency in English (near-native speaker level) with French or German a plus.

Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning

Ensure that the School has cohesive vision and strategies for technology and its role in education;
Collaborate, as part of the School Leadership Team, to integrate technology into the instructional program for all curriculum areas, K-12;
Design and implement technology training based on identified areas of need and interest;
Provide support to Technology Integration Facilitators and Faculty to help them make the most of available technological resources;
Provide recommendations of hardware and software for use in the classroom;
Assess the success of technology integration across the curriculum.

2. Management and Administration

Meet regularly with the Director and report on technology-related issues;
Collaborate, as part of the School Operational Team, on non-curriculum strategic initiatives which involve technology;
Provide leadership and planning for all technology initiatives;
Provide leadership and direction to the ICT Department,
Maintain and update the ICT Mission Statement, the ICT Vision Statement, the ISL ICT Plan and other department documents;
Create and manage the ICT budget and oversee all software and hardware purchases;
Develop good relations with local technology dealers;
ensure that ISL’s interests are best served in sourcing the best software and hardware;
Ensure technology compliance with Business continuity plans;
Proactively ensure that all ISL projects support the ICT Vision and Mission Statements;
Work to structure the school’s overall communication systems so that the flow of information is efficient.

3. Hardware and Software

Provide highest-level support for issues that are escalated from other ICT staff;
Collaborate with operations staff to choose and utilize appropriate hardware and software;
Ensure school databases and servers are properly managed and supported (including, but not limited to): AFAS Accounting Server, Outlook Email, INSIS School Information System, Microsoft Active Directory, Remote Access (Terminal) Server;
Ensure that appropriate working backup and recovery systems are in place;
Create documentation for managing school hardware and software and for disaster recovery;
Ensure that ISL’s data is secure and appropriately protected;

Comply with School policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person;
Such other duties as may be requested by a Principal or assigned by the Director.

Working conditions

Non-CBA with special working & salary conditions. Annual salary paid over 12 months. Lunch vouchers. Work Mon-Fri, 8-17h. All school holidays plus 4 weeks in the summer. Supplementary pension (5%) from start of contract.
