Help Desk Evening Coordinator
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position.This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is (not) eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The San Diego State University Library is seeking a service-oriented help desk assistant with strong interpersonal skills to cover our evening help desk hours. The individual will be expected to cover an 8.5-hour shift (30-minute evening break) with hours between 3pm-1am Sundays thru Thursdays. Vacation opportunities may be limited during fall and spring semesters.
The Help Desk Evening Coordinator will split time between the Library Computing Hub and 24/7 study area. The Computing Hub and 24/7 area are the main contact points for students seeking assistance with computing, printing, wireless network, software and other computer related services. The individual working in this position will be responsible for providing direction and assistance to both student employees, students, and faculty seeking information at the desks. The individual in this position will begin each day working closely with the Hub and 24/7 coordinators at the beginning of each shift and transitioning to an independent role in the evenings. It is expected that the incumbent will facilitate students in completing assigned class work as well as provide assistance related to printing, internet, email, file transfers, computer operating systems, Microsoft and Google products, as well as maintain and handle group study room reservations, checkouts and provide general direction to patrons. The Director of Library Technologies will rely on this position for ongoing feedback in order to provide a continued high level of resources and assistance for students attending San Diego State University.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,817 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,470 - $6,297 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources. |

Minimum Qualifications To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.
