The Institution
Founded in 1841, Fordham Prep is a Catholic Jesuit college preparatory school for young men. With approximately 1000 students enrolled in grades 9-12, Fordham Prep draws young men of diverse backgrounds from throughout the boroughs of New York City and its surrounding suburbs. For over 175 years, Fordham Prep has been located on the historic Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx, alongside property of Fordham University with whom it shares several facilities.

The Position
The Student Help Desk Technician is a part-time position at Fordham Preparatory School, directly reporting to the Director of Technical Operations. The Student Help Desk Technician serves as an initial point of contact for students who require support with their school-approved personal computing device. As such, the staff member should be extremely familiar with the following:

- Windows 8.1/Windows 10
- Microsoft Office 2003-2013
- Computing hardware components
- Wireless networking
- Microsoft OneNote
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Surface Pro
The Student Help Desk Technician serves as a full-fledged member of the Technology Department and may be asked to assist in other technology related tasks or special projects, beyond working directly with students. The Student Help Desk Technician is also responsible for maintaining an appropriate working environment for students within the Computer Center who intend to work independently and/or collaborate.
In their daily work with students, the Student Help Desk technician is to diligently catalog all support requests and, correspondingly, identify and communicate trends to the rest of the technology department. This crucial process allows issues that are systemic in nature to be addressed before their impact becomes widespread.
This is a 10 month per year non-tenured track staff position with regular hours five days per week from 10 am – 4 pm. Part-time employees are not eligible to participate in Fordham Preparatory School’s health, life, disability or pension plans.
