St. Gabriel's Catholic School, located in Austin, TX is looking for a full-time Helpdesk Technician/IT Support Specialist.  This full-time position serves 450 students in grades Pre-K 3-8.

This Helpdesk Technician/IT Support Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day support, management, deployment, maintenance and inventory of technology employed by the School; including laptops, iPads, AV, sound equipment, interactive displays, printers and various software programs. This includes technical support of Windows desktop Operating system, Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Google Suite for Education, Apple iOS/OS, Apple App Deployment, JAMFPro, Acronis, laptop imaging and troubleshooting. In addition to a strong technical knowledge, candidate must have the ability and willingness to communicate effectively with users to understand their issue and explain the solution while building strong professional relationships. The ideal candidate is interested in a small team environment which offers the ability to work on a variety of technologies and projects including robotics, STEAM, and Makerspace. The Helpdesk Technician will fulfill the mission of the School by implementing and supporting the overall technology program. This position reports to the Director of Technology.

 Essential Duties

  • Facilitate the implementation of the school's Technology Plan
  • Maintain and support student and faculty/staff computers, mobile devices and other technology
  • Assist with the administration of SGS Google Domain including user accounts, access, and apps
  • Maintain classroom technology such as interactive displays, document cameras, etc.
  • Maintain and support the School's network infrastructure, hardware, and software
  • Maintain inventory of hardware, software, and peripherals
  • Manage support requests through a ticketing system, including assignment of tasks, collaborating with other IT staff members and documenting work done
  • Maintain a software and documentation library
  • Communicate effectively with administrators, faculty/staff, students, parents and vendors
  • Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, demeanor and work habits
  • Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability and presence to the School, students, faculty and staff
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional technology
  • Advise the Director of Technology on technology issues and needs within the School
  • Assist with the evaluation of faculty and staff regarding technology proficiency and provide training and support as necessary
  • Prepare for and conduct end-of-year technology closeout procedures, summer maintenance and the start of school preparation
  • Support and uphold the philosophy of mission of the School
  • Support and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the School and the Diocese
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in supporting both Windows and Apple OS/iOS
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software maintenance and support
  • Ability to interact with administrators, faculty/staff and students in an educational setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
  • Strong interpersonal skills with children and adults alike
  • Skill in handling multiple, simultaneous requests, prioritizing issues and responding to critical system failures

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or
  • Two years of professional experience supporting both Windows and Apple desktop environments
