High School Math & Computer Elective Teacher

A small, Christian, intervention high school serving at-risk students in Richmond’s East End is seeking a passionate, experienced teacher to join their team. Church Hill Academy is a branch of Church Hill Activities and Tutoring (CHAT) that strives to equip students to succeed by providing an individualized, need-based, holistic education with an emphasis on small class sizes and mentorship. The math and computer elective teacher is responsible for teaching a combination of math classes required by the Commonwealth of Virginia for a high school diploma as well as computer application elective classes. This position is for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Anyone who is seeking this position at Church Hill Academy should: -Share a personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the vision and mission of CHAT. -Share a commitment to serving and engaging in the community of Church Hill. -Model an exemplary lifestyle and integrate Biblical truth in both classroom instruction and personal application. -Have a passion for teaching that can be clearly demonstrated to the staff, students, and parents through his or her teaching style. -Show an ability to reach all math learners by understanding growth mindset learning, implementing research-based practices, and using trauma informed care. -Conduct him/herself in a way that is professional, collegial and that reflects positively on the mission and goals of CHAT and CHA. -Possess at least a bachelor's degree in related subject area. -Teaching certifications and/or experience working with urban high school youth preferred.
