Carrollwood Day School (CDS) seeks a dedicated and experienced High School Technology/STEEM teacher. CDS is an International Baccalaureate, non-sectarian independent day school serving students from two-years-old through high school. CDS stands out as a leader in its mission to educate the whole child, with a concentration in character education.

Responsibilities will include teaching the required 9th and 10th grade technology/STEEM-focused classes. Our STEEM (Science, Math, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Math) focus will be part of our design technology class and our Center for Innovation, which emphasizes collaboration, communication, and creation. This teacher should expect to work together with our Elementary, Middle School, and High School STEEM coordinators and technology teachers, as well as our Technology Integrator, to develop an engaging, innovative, and linear curriculum that builds over time and is developmentally appropriate to our division. Experience with a wide variety of technological devices is a must. Prefer experience with Vex Robotics and coding (Javascript, RobotC). Our expectation is that this teacher will utilize our 1:1 program, our Mac Lab, and our CFI to inspire and challenge students to be innovative in their use of technology. The ideal candidate will include socially relevant and international themes in their curriculum. Strong classroom management skills, effective communication skills, and the enthusiasm to pioneer a full STEEM program as a team player is a must.

Competitive candidates should demonstrate an understanding of and affinity for high school students and show an ability to work with students who vary in ability and learning styles. This teacher should also expect to lead a group of up to 15 students through our character education program as their advisor and act as their parents’ liaison to the school. They should also demonstrate support of enrollment and retention by leading clubs or organizations and participating in extracurricular school activities.

A Bachelor’s degree in field is required; advanced degree preferred. Previous experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate curricula is desired, but not required.
