At CHA, the ICT Teacher/Technology Support Specialist is a unique hybrid teaching and administrative position. The Technology Support Specialist reports directly to the Head of School and works collaboratively with other members of the administrative team. The primary responsibility of the Technology Support Specialist is to be responsible for guiding, planning, and overseeing the strategic direction of the school’s educational technology. 

The responsibilities of this position include:

Instructional Technology Administration

The Technology Support Specialist shall serve as CHA’s IT network administrator. Responsibilities of this role include -- but are not limited to -- the essential tasks listed below. Additional off-site IT services will be hired to assist the Technology Support Specialist with these tasks.

  • Establish budget prioritization and management of services for the innovative and effective use of technology supporting the educational visions and operational excellence of the school

  • Plan and design school Wi-Fi / Internet infrastructure

  • Supervise mobile device management, using JAMF Software’s Casper Suite

  • Conduct software installation on all school-owned desktop and laptop computers

  • Manage implementation of cloud-based student and faculty tools, such as Google Apps for Education (includes student email accounts), Seesaw (includes student digital portfolios and parent engagement companion app)

  • Respond to the needs and questions of computer users campus-wide and troubleshoot issues relating to stand-alone personal computers, laptops, SMART Technology products, iPads, and personal devices as well as various software programs

Curriculum & Professional Development

  • Lead development of media literacy, STEAM, and maker education curriculum scope and sequence aligned to PYP and MYP inquiry-based curriculum, in collaboration with faculty and administration

  • Coordinate sustainable professional development opportunities to empower faculty and 

  • Administration to network, share expertise, and cultivate growth throughout the year

  • Assist with implementation of similar development opportunities for parents in order to strengthen school-to-home community, increase parental engagement as a whole, and support parent education with regards to media literacy and digital citizenship

Academic Instruction

  • Serve as ICT Instructor/Coordinator, leading implementation of media literacy, STEAM, and maker education curriculum while supporting classroom teachers from pre-K through 5th grade in implementing unit of inquiry projects

  • Found the creation of new MYP Design curriculum and teach courses for grades 6-8 including an MYP elective

  • Support MYP class advisors in addressing digital citizenship issues 

The successful candidate will have the following characteristics and skill set:

  • At least two years of relevant IT administration and classroom teaching experience and a valid teaching qualification (BA/BS required, MA/MS preferred)

  • Comfortable with the use of technology

  • Experience with the Tribes program and MYP is desirable but not mandatory
