JOB TITLE: Information Systems Technician                     

DEPARTMENT: Technology                    

REPORTS TO: Director of Information Resources and Technologies

 

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent Catholic school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, is seeking an entry-level Information Systems Technician for the 2019-2020 school year.  Faculty and staff are actively engaged in the Notre Dame community, and embrace the mission and values of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. 
 

The Information Systems Technician supports the Technology Department by addressing hardware and certain software issues as they arise, and makes technology accessible to all school constituents. The Information Systems Technician contributes positively to employee morale, maintains a professional, pleasant demeanor to all constituencies, maintains confidentiality on school matters both on and off campus, and supports the mission of the school.  This twelve-month position reports to the school’s Director of Information Resources and Technologies.

 

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Implement and administer systems and procedures to provide and support educational and administrative technology and to provide a current, stable, and secure working environment. 

  • Provide administrative client/server support for school databases and systems

  • Provide general technology support to faculty, staff, and students and helps oversee technology spaces (including servers, projectors, printers, phone and paging system, microphone and speaker systems, Macintosh and Windows support, Office and Adobe applications, wireless network, and Student Information System). 

  • Assist in executing long-range plans in line with the Academy’s mission and philosophy, especially with regards to scheduled device upgrades, cybersecurity, and Student Information System audit. 

  • Support tasks associated with school’s one-to-one MacBook program, including yearly collection, reconfiguration, and rollout.  

  • Stay current in trends in IT in education, and participate in regular professional development focusing on technology in a school setting

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:  

  • Computer networks

  • Comfortable with database management and general maintenance

  • Experience working within Macintosh and Windows operating systems

  • Experience with office productivity and Adobe applications

  • Comfortable within a Google environment

  • Ability to solve complex technical problems alongside the technology team

  • Strong communications skills with various constituencies, including students, faculty, and administration
