Position Summary |
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 10 hours per week) Information Technology Consultant, competency level 1, position for Sea Grant at Oregon State University (OSU). This position will be located in Newport, Oregon. The Information Technology Consultant provides specialized knowledge of application software, network support, and a moderate degree of hardware consultation and support for a museum and/or interpretive center to aid in the exhibition, presentation, archival, and provides technical assistance to exhibit designers. |
Position Duties |
60% Provide telephone or on-site support; assist staff with troubleshooting exhibit software, hardware and internet issues; act as liaison between faculty, staff and information systems resources and staff. 15% Develop documentation of systems for various exhibits, and keep staff updated on issues and changes; establish security and operational policies and procedures. 15% Use utility and file programs to recover and backup data; re-install damaged or deleted software or files; troubleshoot errors in systems and initiate repairs. 10% Research available products and systems and recommend alternatives to meet identified needs. |
Minimum Qualifications |
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience. |
