Working within a learning college environment, this position reports to the CIO of Phoenix College. The Deputy CIO, provides leadership in the planning, direction and implementation of strategic, college-wide academic and administrative information technologies at Phoenix College. Primarily focusing on the services provided to the students, faculty and staff of PC, the Deputy CIO manages departments, teams, projects and resources related to the Customer Care teams including desktop support, media/av, video production, and help desk. Demonstrates a commitment to world-class customer service, innovation, team building, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties. 

Essential Functions

30% - Provides IT leadership, goal-setting, planning, direction and overall operational oversight for selection, implementation and maintenance of all desktop, media/av, video production, and help desk solutions at the college; directing service delivery and assuring quality of services, develops departmental metrics and analysis.

20% - Directs planning and collaboration with customers and peers to assess needs, then develops, refines and/or implements advanced technology solutions to meet those needs; provides overall IT leadership and guidance and serves as college and district wide subject matter expert on various technologies.

20% - Directs and administers budgets and expenditures; identifies and allocates resource needs for college IT services encompassing all student, faculty and staff computing, classroom technology, help desk operations, integration of technologies, project management, and support of other mission critical systems and software across multiple campuses.

15% - Works closely with vendors, developing relationships, and partnerships to procure technology and services, performing cost/benefit analysis during procurement process.

15% - Fosters staff development at all levels of the organization and provides training and mentoring to staff to meet professional, personal and institutional goals; approves staff selection; oversees the disciplinary process for assigned team(s)/staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or directly related field from a regionally accredited institution and six years of professional experience in area related to assignment, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of a conferred degree and directly related full-time work expeirence as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. 

Desired Qualifications

1. Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business or a closely related field

2. Six (6) or more years of experience managing an Information Technology team/department, including experience with developing and administering Information Technology budgets

3. Four (4) or more years of experience with managing desktop support or av/media support or help desk operations

4. Three (3) or more years of experience in higher education technology management and communications

5. Two (2) or more years of experience managing IT projects from the research stage through to completion

6. Experience improving operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across all lines of business and technology platforms

7. Experience working with a culturally diverse population, fostering collaborative communication among diverse groups

8. Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of a Learning College

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:  http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements

May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.  

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs.
