Minneapolis Community and Technical College is seeking temporary, part-time Information Technology Instructor within the School of Information Technology.
APPOINTMENT: Temporary part-time (TPT)
DATES: August 27 - December 21, 2018 (Fall Semester 2018)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Teaching college-level coursework in programs within the School of Information Technology.

Participating in development, implementation, and instruction of curriculum for courses in the School of Information Technology.

Participating in course, department, and institutional assessment projects and departmental/division/school meetings.

Actively engaging in the college community through committee work and inter-departmental collaboration.
-
Developing and revising courses and instructional materials.
-
Providing quality instruction and services to a very diverse student population.
-
Maintaining collegial and cooperative work relationships with colleagues in the department, department support staff, and all college personnel.

Instruction may involve both on-campus and online modalities. The schedule may include daytime, evenings, or Saturdays.

Minimum Qualifications:

Educational Substitutions
-
Bachelor or above degree in computer science, MIS, data processing or telecommunications and 4000 hours of occupational experience or
-
Associate degree or two-year diploma (90 quarter credits) in computer science, operation, or programming; business micro computing; or advanced business communication and 6000 hours of occupational experience or
-
One year diploma (45 quarter credits) in computer operations, programming, or business micro computing and 7000 hours of occupational experience or
-
Courses for credit or clock hours (1 quarter credit/20 hours, 1 semester credit/30 hours) in micro computer or mainframe computers and occupational experience totaling 8000 hours.
Occupational Experience Requirement
- 8000 hours of occupational experience in business application in two of the following: installation and troubleshooting computers, computer trainer in a business or industrial setting or programming.
Recency Requirement
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated teaching experience or background in the following course/area: Microcomputer Support.

Evidence of a strong and clear understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, staff, administrators and communities that they serve.

Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in online, face-to-face, and blended delivery modes.

Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to evidence-based teaching practices.

Assessment-- experience with the development of assessment strategies and practices across all levels: course, department, and institional.

Student-centered-- demonstrated contributions to student growth and development through retention measures, student mentoring, and student activities.

Service to the College-- a demonstrated willingness to participate through committee work and/or student activities.

Master's degree in computer science, MIS, data processing or telecommunications, or related field.

SALARY: Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience in accordance with the Minnesota State College Faculty contract.
