Information Technology Manager
Under the administrative oversight from the Director (Deputy CIO), the Information Technology Manager manages and leads a group of Communication and Network Technicians/Communication Service Specialists. The group managed, university Telecomm staff, maintains and repairs the communications cable paint (indoor and outdoor), and telecomm billing and records including oversight of the accurate documentation framework for all telecomm systems. Duties for the IT Manager will include:

Review project requests and work with clients to understand needs and assure satisfaction with work done.

Direct the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of network security tools inlcuding network firewalls and VPN devices.

Evaluate and recommend the purchase of new devices as needed.

Work with clients and other SIUE departments to facilitate efficient and secure operation of various IT systems, including monitoring network activity, after-hours maintenance, and handling network abuse cases.

Develop policies as a member of campus-wide committees, such as the IT Security Committee and advise the Director and AVC/CIO on policy development.

Work with the entire ITS management/director team to ensure consistent service between other ITS groups and purpose changes.
Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department and university.

(a) Bachelor’s degree and two years of work experience in a related field.
(b) Associate’s degree and three years of work experience in a related field.
(c) Five years of work experience in a related field.
