The Information Technology Project Manager oversees assigned Information Technology projects, of moderate to high complexity, according to the systems life cycle methodology; including, but not limited to: developing requirements; planning; analyzing; designing; identifying budget implications (including staffing) and technical issues; overseeing testing, conversion, documentation, training and implementation tasks; providing for on-going, effective, timely support; specifying necessary or desired acquisitions; and, managing change. This position is responsible for planning the project, assembling the project team, assigning responsibilities, and managing schedules and resources to ensure timely completion of assigned projects

Develop the project’s key objectives, scope, success criteria and communicate them effectively across the project team. Develop the project schedule and plan to ensure timely completion of the project. Collaborate with Information Services (IS) leadership to assemble project team(s), identify needed resources from across the college and assign resources to tasks appropriate to each individual’s knowledge, skill, and abilities

Coordinate efforts of internal resources and external service providers/vendors, as necessary. Plan, schedule, and track project deliverables and milestones using Microsoft Project or other project planning tools. Lead efforts for deployment preparation, operational support planning, and transition to operations. Conduct project meetings with broad cross functional teams, to include Information Services and College stakeholders and business users.

Obtain management and stakeholders’ agreement with the project plan and timeline, and advice of any obstacles or resource needs that may affect completion of the project as planned. Communicate project goals, monitor project progress, and adjust resources as necessary to keep the project on track. Manage project issues and risks and escalate to management in a timely fashion.

Develop and maintain all project documentation such as but not limited to; communication plans, project charters, project plans, risk and issue logs, and status reports. Ensure alignment with the Information Services Project Management team and adhere to standards that have been established and set forth by the Project Management Team Leader for managing projects.

Lead project meetings with a broad cross functional team to include Information Services and College stakeholders and business users.

Communicate the status of various projects, discuss issues/risks, and understand the impact of any changes to business requirements. Conduct user acceptance testing.

Proactively meet with stakeholders to build and strengthen relationships between Information Services and the College community. Collaborate with Information Services Leadership regarding resources and staffing needs. Provide feedback on project team member’s performance to their respective supervisor and leadership. Assess the information needs and dynamics of new or on-going projects.

Assess Change Management needs and recommend communication and training efforts recommended to drive towards successful project delivery, acceptance and maintenance; lead efforts where appropriate. Coordinate with other IS Managers, Team Leaders and staff to ensure effective communications among the groups.

Other duties as assigned by Project Management Team Leader.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Minimum of four (4) years as a Project Manager, managing progressively complex technology initiatives such as enterprise architecture, system and security designs and upgrades;of which two (2) years must be relevant work experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize employees at various organizational levels into an effective team and provide subsequent, effective guidance for the team. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Self-starter with strong sense of responsibility and ownership and self-motivated with the ability to drive projects from inception to production. Ability to provide coaching and mentoring to project team members in adherence to standards, best practices and communication.

  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills as well was clear and concise written and verbal communications are required. Ability to communicate with Business and Technical staff

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and monitor medium-large projects. Successful track record of meeting deadlines in an environment with competing priorities.

  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following technologies within an enterprise infrastructure environment: Servers, Networking, Storage, Backup, Virtualization, Cloud, Software, and Systems.

 

  • Advanced Degree, business analysis training and certifications, quality assurance training and certifications

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework.

  • Formalized Project Management training or PMP certification.
