Summary of Duties

The function of the IT Specialist 2 position is to provide administration and support for Information Technology Services delivered services. The scope of duties is wide-ranging and includes responsibility for multiple university-wide services. This position has a shared influence on service at Washington State University. Under general supervisor, this position is expected to maintain service levels and delivery of services by maintaining services, resolving incidents, and service requests. Primary duties are in support of the Office 365 suite, Skype for Business, Active Directory, and other Windows based services.

Position Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

Three years of information technology experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field of study. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience supporting services in the Microsoft suite of server products including; Windows Server, Active Directory, SharePoint Server, Certificate Services, Network Policy Server, Skype for Business, System Center products, Forefront Identity Manager, SQL Server, IIS and Exchange Server. 
• Experience with Office 365 and other Microsoft cloud services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge and understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory. Office 365, and Skype for business clients and troubleshooting. 
• Working knowledge and understanding of Windows and MacOS operating systems. 
• Working knowledge of common Windows Server scripting tools such as PowerShell, Visual Basic, etc. 
• Working knowledge and understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange Server system fundamentals. 
• Experience working in an enterprise environment in a customer support role. 
• Demonstrated ability to work individually. 
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team. 
• Ability to convey technical information to a diverse audience through written documents and oral presentations.
• Working knowledge and understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory and Exchange Server system fundamentals. 
• Experience working in an enterprise environment in a customer support role. 
• Demonstrated ability to work individually. 
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
