Position Summary

The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department at the University of Arizona is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Information Technology Support Analyst.
This position will support the technical infrastructure of the Department, including desktop and laptop computer support; server and infrastructure support and management; database management; and website management.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage technology projects from initiation to completion, including prioritization, planning, and review of deadlines, goals, and progress.

  • Ensure application of current performance, policy, and processing standards.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify hardware, software, and other resources necessary to accomplish unit tasks within budgetary constraints. Recommend hardware/software for purchase.

  • Maintain technology budget in accordance with services offered.

  • Establish unit standards and policies; implement and recommend actions to improve workflow, simplify operational and reporting procedures, and improve performance standards.

  • Supervise one or more student employees and coordinate IT activities in a shared IT environment. 

  • Provide and develop training materials on campus technology tools for faculty and staff.

  • Coordinate with other campus technical resources to meet departmental goals. 

  • Coordinate unit activities with vendors, users, and other operational units.

  • Manage and monitor the security of Department computer resources according to University policies and industry best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 
  • Knowledge of current computer hardware, software, and emerging technologies.

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques for providing computing services in an academic environment.

  • Knowledge of information security computing practices and policies.

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining standards, policies, and operational efficiency of information technology staff.

  • Ability to manage projects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Five years of progressive information technology experience in area of assignment which may include systems administration, network systems administration, applications design/development, database design/development or administration, web site design/development or administration, business analysis and/or workstation/end user support.; OR 
Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related area AND four years of progressive information technology experience in area of assignment which may include systems administration, network systems administration, applications design/development, database design/development or administration, web site design/development, business analysis and/or workstation/end user support; OR,
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related area AND two years of progressive information technology experience in area of assignment which may include systems administration, network systems administration, applications design/development, database design/development or administration, web site design/development, business analysis and/or workstation/end user support; OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
