Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school located in the Tenleytown section of Northwest Washington, D.C., seeks a full-time, 12 month Information Technology Support Specialist to join the IT Services team. The IT Support Specialist is primarily responsible for helping our Lower School faculty, staff, and students use technology efficiently and effectively. This position will support the Lower School’s Apple iPad program as well as a variety of other technologies that teachers and administrators use in their daily work. The position is located at the Sidwell Friends Lower School campus in Bethesda, MD, with occasional travel necessary to the Washington, DC campus.

 

Responsibilities include installing and configuring computing hardware (desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, printers, etc.), software, A/V equipment, and network cabling; troubleshooting and correcting problems that our community members encounter when using technology; training our community in the effective use of the technologies we provide; supporting and collaborating with the Lower School Academic Technology Coordinator in the use of innovative new educational technologies in the curriculum; updating the status of trouble tickets in our help desk system; and keeping accurate records of technology inventory.

 

In addition to the day to day technical work, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in improving the services offered by the Technology Services team. This will include assisting with new technology investigations, writing and updating service documentation, proposing and implementing process improvements, and working collaboratively with the Academic Technology Coordinators in each division. The successful candidate will also work directly with PK-4th grade students and their teachers, including participating in a variety of Lower School duties and activities.

 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, information technology, or an equivalent technical discipline. The successful candidate will have two or more years of experience providing IT support, preferably in an academic environment, and excellent organization and communication skills. Demonstrated technical breadth and depth in supporting Apple devices and classroom technology is required, as is knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Windows 7, Active Directory, and Office 365. Experience using and administering the JAMF Casper Suite, and associated certifications (CCT, CCA), is preferred. The candidate must also demonstrate a history of working collaboratively in a team environment and earning the trust of faculty and administrators. The ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with children in grades PK-4 as well as adult colleagues is required.

 

This full-time (12-month) position begins July 1, and it reports to the Assistant Director of IT Operations.
