Essential Qualities/Experience

  • Demonstrate a good moral character subscribing to the Christian principles and policies of Grace Academy.
  • Passionate about teaching to deepen the understanding that the role that information technology plays in the academic experience. Teacher should have thorough and deep knowledge about the basic and advanced concepts of information technology.
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, Support Services & Networking or Education from an accredited university with 2-4 years of experience. A current state license/certification is preferred.  CCTE, ITEA or ACSI certification is a plus.
  • Apply technology to the classroom as part of the student outcome assessment process.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both in both verbal and written form.

Job Responsibilities

The information technology teacher will teach classes at the elementary, middle and upper school levels. The instructor needs to fulfill a wide range of duties and responsibilities as the field of information technology is developing rapidly, with new technology entering the market very often. The following duties and responsibilities of an information technology teacher include:

Academic:

  • Plan, develop and compile a comprehensive informational technology curriculum with the Professional Development Director with quality instruction infused.
  • Utilize the various technological pedagogical tools in an interactive and meaningful fashion to meet the needs of the 21st Century classroom with creative classroom management.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment for active student participation, preparing sound lesson plans, while posting timely student progress.
  • Implement and deliver quality instruction to students and execute the instructional program by demanding higher order thinking activities from students in a progressive manner.
  • Introduce the basic concepts of information technology to the elementary students while familiarizing more complex programming and skills to the upper level student.
  • Understand the current technology so that the teacher can impart the latest knowledge to students depending on the level of the students.
  • Assess the learning capabilities of the students through effective interaction.
  • Perform all the basic day-to-day functions such as preparing teaching lesson plans, course work, projects and student evaluations.
  • Communicate with the parents and guardians of the student about individual progress and growth.
  • Instruct students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment.

Administrative:

  • Collaborate with Dean of Students, Professional Development Director, Director of Student Success and fellow teachers for creating innovative methods of learning as per the students' abilities and requirements, and identifying the root of behavioral learning problems in students.
  • Optimize the use of Internet and other interactive technology for strengthening and supporting instructional programs with Instructional Technology Director.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy relationship with students, parents, and other working staff members, managing the students' behavior in the classroom and the school premises, and implementing appropriate behavior and dress code management program.
  • Maintain the instructional process and evaluation system of the students per the Grace Academy Leadership Team standards.
  • Submit the students' progress reports and narratives to Sycamore identifying areas of weakness in the student for their overall improvement in study habits, behavioral issues, and organizational skills.
  • File and upgrade all forms of physical and computerized documents, records, and reports of the students for general and academic records.
  • Participate in all important departmental and parents' meetings as well as other school related activities.
  • Attend regular chapel and devotional services as instructed.
  • Monitor and supervise classrooms, school hallways, bathrooms and grounds.
  • Contribute to school safety by fulfilling drop-off day responsibilities.
  • Attend graduation, Christmas and other school formal events as part of Grace Faculty.
  • Serve as faculty member for selected clubs or sports. Volunteer for school trips, outreaches and international programs.
