Innovation and Design Teacher
Job Description and Desired Qualifications
The Innovation and Design teacher will help design and teach Design Innovation and Tech classes for 6th grade and collaborate with Lower School teachers to support integration of tinkering, making and design thinking into K-5 learning spaces. This teacher will partner closely with the Director of Innovation and Design around course design, implementation, and collaboration with other teachers throughout the program. The course load consists of three sections of 6th-grade Design Innovation and Technology classes and periodic partnerships with the K-5 Core teachers and specialists. The ideal candidate will also have experience with tinkering, making and design thinking. This teacher will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiation of instruction, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in building a community.
This is a part-time position, 0.5FTE (schedule TBD) beginning in August 2018.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Classroom teaching or leadership experience in tinkering, making, and design thinking
- Experience working in a classroom environment
- Candidate must have a natural rapport with children and good classroom management skills
