INNOVATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Reports to: Director of Technology & Innovation
Status: Full-time, salaried, exempt, 12-month position
Purpose: To provide help desk and classroom support to faculty and students for academic technology and innovation. To provide troubleshooting; enhancing teacher and student knowledge and utilization of existing technology and exploring new opportunities through support, planning, training, and advocacy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technology Department

Support the needs of the technology department by responding to help requests from faculty and students.

Utilize the helpdesk ticketing system to manage and prioritize support requests.

Manage student devices (i.e. laptop carts, iPads, Chromebooks, etc).

Support the use of digital fabrication tools (i.e. laser cutter, 3D printers, etc).

Define, configure and set-up academic software.

Assist with the maintenance, repair and inventory of all school technology

Support faculty with the academic resources through instructional design by creating documentation, guides and digital resources.

Promote technology use that supports excellent teaching and learning.

Supports innovation activities through prototyping and material production.
Faculty Support and Training
-
Collaborate with the Director of Technology and Innovation to help teachers explore technology and innovative solutions to enhance the learning experiences of students at every grade level (Preschool-8).

Look creatively at innovative technology, pedagogy and design by utilizing St. Mary’s innovation classroom spaces and other resources.

Provide ongoing training and support on academic school systems such as LMS and IB platforms.

In collaboration with the Director of Technology and Innovation, design, coordinate, and deliver technology and innovation-related faculty professional development.

Provide support for teachers when implementing new technologies in the classroom, as needed.

Provide coaching, mentorship and modeling of current instructional strategies and technologies

Explore new technologies and makes recommendations for software subscriptions, innovative tools and pedagogical resources.

Engage in continuous professional development to deepen content knowledge and skills in the areas of innovation, design and technology integration.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology and Innovation, Head of School or other administrators.

Support the School and its leadership.
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in the area of computer science, educational technology, innovation or similar field from an accredited college or university required.

“Teacher first” with a minimum of three years of experience in the classroom, preferably in a K-12 school environment.

Ability to “speak teacher” and intimately understand the needs and demands of teachers and instructional technology.

Proficiency in supporting a wide variety of technology platforms (PC, Mac, iPad, mobile, etc.).

Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite.

General knowledge of computer hardware and software maintenance and support.
-
Strong troubleshooting skills to solve technical problems.
-
Experience with digital fabrication tools (3D printers, laser cutters, etc).

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with members of the technology team, as well members across the school community.

Outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus, both internal and external.

Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of the school.

Able to maintain confidentiality.

Self-starter with the ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task in an atmosphere in which sensitive deadlines are the norm, as are interruptions.
