The Center for Education Integrating Science Mathematics and Computing (CEISMC) at Georgia Tech seeks four dynamic individuals for its 2017-18 inaugural Innovator-in-Residence cohort to help M. R. Hollis Innovation Academy develop and implement quality STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math) curriculum. M. R. Hollis Innovation Academy is a public K-8 school serving the Vine City and English Avenue neighborhoods on Atlanta’s historic Westside.  The school is currently going in its second year, and welcoming its first 6th graders into the building. Candidates should have a passion for tinkering, design, making, art or robotics, as well as STEAM education.

Residency Details

·       Salary based on education and experience

·       10-20 hours per week.  Must be available during the school day.

·       One academic year (September 2017 – May 2018)

·       Work space provided with access to water and sink. Innovators convert workspace into Georgia Tech Innovation Space.

·       Work collaboratively with the Associate Director of School and Community Engagement at CEISMC as well as several assigned teachers from Hollis Innovation Academy to support student-centered projects in the classroom.

·       Support after-school programs for students centered around robotics, making/tinkering and engineering

·       Create and present portfolio of the work completed during residency

·       Opportunities to provide professional development to Hollis faculty and staff

Innovators will be interacting with minors and must adhere to all regulatory compliance issues while working with CEISMC including but not limited to a criminal background check, appropriate pre-screening and training on working with minors.
