This is a professional full-time position within the Division for eLearning and Instructional Technology and reports to the Director of Instructional Design and Development. The position is charged with identifying and implementing best practices for the design, development and implementation of learning content. The Instructional Design and Development Specialist will assess instructional needs of faculty and determine application solutions and emerging technologies that will support the integration of digital content in to the teaching and learning environment. Responsibilities also include offering workshops or site-visits to participating colleges in order to provide instructional design and quality assurance services.

  • Identify best practices for the design, development and implementation of learning content while demonstrating creativity, flexibility and innovation in course desig
  • Assess instructional needs of faculty and determine application solutions or design templates that will support the integration of digital content into the teaching and learning environmen
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of instructional design and current trends within the eLearning field.
  • Appropriately recommend enhancements to learning methodology and/or developing learning content using existing and emerging technologie
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the purpose of identifying and developing learning objectives, course content, and other learning objec
  • Implement graphics, video, and sound for online learning courses and simulation
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to determine that established standards are being followe
  • Research best practices in the areas of instructional design in relation to teaching and learning.
  • Design, develop and deliver training as it relates to online teaching, learning, and instructional design in individualized settings, small groups, workshop, webinars, and courses (F2F/online).
  • Collaborate and provide training for the MCCB and MSVCC on the implementation of new features and functionalities related to eLearning technologie
  • Coordinate applicable meetings and trainings of the MSVCC and eLearning Divisi
  • Assist in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training and professional development activities including but not limited to webinars, courses, workshops, and conferences
  • Represent the agency through oral and written communications and repo
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree preferred) in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field.
  • Strong background in learning theory and online instruction.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts in the development of online learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of learning management systems such as Canvas, graphic and multi-media authoring software, website design and online course development.
  • Experience with synchronous and asynchronous online collaboration.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
