Position Summary*
|
||
This position provides support to the campus community in person, by phone and by computer-mediated communication on the effective uses of academic technologies in support of learning, teaching, research and service. Activities include instructional design, individual and group consultation, training, instructional materials development, and user support. In addition, this position provides technical project coordination and support for academic technology initiatives, which may include faculty development programming, online curriculum development, ePortfolio and assessment support, and/or campus communications and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications*
|
||
Ability to work independently, possessing the experience and credentials to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments defined for this position:
- Knowledge of instructional design theories and methodologies and ability to apply them; Foundational Knowledge for this position is normally obtained through a bachelor¿s degree or similar certified coursework in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A background check (which may include: checks of employment records, education records, criminal records, civil records, motor vehicle records, professional licenses, and sex offender registries, as position requires). Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position. |

Preferred Qualifications
|
||
Advanced degree in the field of Education, Instructional Technology, or related field. Minimum 3 years' experience in a higher educational context, providing training, support and/or curriculum development expertise to faculty and students, or equivalent; Strong organizational and writing skills. Teaching experience. Ability to lead projects from feasibility to implementation phases, applying effective planning and time management methods. Experience developing and/or conducting formal training programs; Knowledge of standard open-source and proprietary software applications used at SF State, including iLearn, CourseStream, ePortfolios, Drupal, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, research databases and other educational productivity and presentation programs. Environmental/Physical/Special
|
||
Open office environment and on-campus facilities will be the major venue for this position. May involve carrying or lifting projectors, laptops, or other audiovisual equipment, which can also be pushed or pulled using a cart. Work schedule may change at times to ensure delivery of campus services, and the work week will be adjusted accordingly. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. May require some off-campus travel. Academic Technology is a service unit that supports the entire campus community. In the interest of projecting a positive image to the constituents we serve, all employees must be professionally, neatly and appropriately attired for the work to be done.
