Connecticut College is conducting a national search for a creative, committed, and energetic Instructional Designer/Developer to join an outstanding team of instructional technology, library, and information technology staff in the merged Information Services organization at Connecticut College. Connecticut College, located midway between New York City and Boston in the historic whaling city of New London, is a progressive and highly selective liberal arts college of some 1800 students and which is currently implementing its new and innovative Connections curriculum. The recently remodeled Charles E. Shain Library is a beautiful space and was named a 2016 New Landmark Library by the Library Journal.   

 
 

The Instructional Designer/ Developer will collaborate with faculty to assess course needs and incorporate appropriate, sustainable academic technologies using sound instructional design methodologies. The incumbent will provide advice, guidance, technical support and multi-model instruction to faculty and students using academic technologies. He or she will identify needs, develop, design and implement innovative projects with faculty and staff, including the development and configuration of customized Moodle and WordPress plugins and themes. The instructional designer will serve as backup administrator to our course management system (Moodle), ePortfolio platform (Digication), and WordPress. The incumbent will join a collaborative team of librarians, instructional and information technology staff in the merged Information Services organization serving the needs of Connecticut College students, faculty and staff.

 

Master’s degree in instructional technology, education, information and library science, or a related field. Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and best practices related to instructional technologies to support teaching. Experience with and interest in developing skills in HTML, PHP, CSS and related programs in support of Moodle and WordPress preferred. Experience using mobile devices, social networking, and other forms of technology to deliver information services to college constituents. Ability to build and sustain key relationships with, and provide excellent service to, students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies. Well-organized, able to work under pressure and as a member of a team. Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community.
