Job Summary

Consults, trains and serves as a resource to faculty, administrators, course developers and appropriate departments in the design, development, evaluation and revision of online, hybrid, and print courses.  Assists in staff development related to instructional applications, uses of technology and pedagogical standards; additionally, this position will assist in the identification and implementation of instructional innovations related to e-learning. 

Essential Functions

85% - Designs, develops and evaluates instructional courses/materials (and/or assist part time developers in doing the same) such as (but not limited to) planning, organizing, assigning, supervising, reviewing and evaluating work of contracted content developers/subject matter experts; serves as instructional design and development subject matter expert and consultant to faculty, staff and industry partners; performs needs assessment, learner analysis, task analysis, and analyses of the environment for instructional design projects; coordinates curriculum and materials development and evaluation/assessment components; plans and manages multiple projects
10% - Assists in staff development related to instructional applications, use of technology and pedagogical standards
5% - Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional design, training and development, education technology or related field and four years of experience in instructional design and development, program and systems development and/or assessment

OR

An equivalent combination the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set for in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Two (2) years' experience designing e-learning courses

  2. Experience teaching online at the post-secondary level

  3. Master’s degree or higher in Instructional Design or in a related field (Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Educational Technology, eLearning, Distance Education, etc.)

  4. Experience using project management tools, learning management systems, and eLearning development tools

  5. Trained in/experience using the Quality Matters rubric

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
