ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and serves as the chief advisor to the Management Team in assessing needs and planning strategically for instructional technology
- Effectively models and promotes 21st Century digital teaching methods and research-based strategies that encourage active student learning through the integration of technology for students with visual impairment, additional impairments and DeafBlindness
- Collaborates closely with the principals, assistant principals, technology training specialist, online staff development specialist, assistive technology teachers, Outreach assistive technology specialists, systems support specialists and classroom teachers
- Uses leadership skills to build trust and a spirit of collaboration with other members of the school community to promote positive change
- Facilitates acquisition and implementation of the Texas Technology Applications Standards for all teachers
- Helps teachers to assess their personal technology training needs as well as those of students and supports identification and/or development of appropriate training materials
- Gathers and tracks staff training needs related to instructional technology and assistive technology
- In collaboration with the technology training committee, coordinates the selection and use of appropriate strategies to address the varied technology training needs of educators and students
- In collaboration with principals and teachers, coordinates the identification, purchase and implementation of appropriate technology tools for specific instructional and training needs
- In collaboration with principals, the special education coordinator and assistive technology teachers, coordinates the implementation of appropriate and effective assistive technology assessment and instruction as required by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), state and federal laws
- Applies effective training, mentoring, coaching and consultation skills and strategies to collaborate with colleagues with varying levels of skill and experience
- Selects and uses strategies to maximize effectiveness by applying principles of time management, project management and continuous improvement
- May supervise instructional technology support staff
- Attends work regularly in accordance with TSBVI leave policy
- Complies with all agency policies and procedures
- Performs related work as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree and Masters degree or other advanced degree in Instructional Technology or related field;
or Texas Master Technology Teacher Certification; (College or university transcript(s) required at time of hire)
or documentation of similar extensive training in technology education leadership such as certification aligned with the International Society of Technology Education standards for teachers
and Current teacher certification - Experience teaching and integrating technology into instruction for K-12 students
- Must have or be willing to obtain Texas Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments certification within a specified period of time
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a similar instructional technology leadership position
- Experience working with students with special needs
- ACVREP Certified Assistive Technology Specialist for People with Visual Impairments
- Texas Technology Applications or Technology Education certification
- Google Certified Educator and Trainer certifications
- Apple Teacher certification
