Position Summary:

The Academic Technology Specialist works closely with leadership, teachers, and the librarians to develop and implement a strategic vision for innovation, academic technology, and instructional design. We are seeking a dynamic visionary to ensure that all areas of academic technology and innovation align with the strategic vision and mission of the school.

 

Main areas of responsibilities are:

  • Design, deliver and oversee major professional development and growth experiences for faculty in areas of technology integration, curriculum enhancement, and instructional design.

  • Plan with classroom teachers, librarians and learning specialists to design technology integrated learning experiences to foster critical thinking, ethical problem solving for optimal student technology and innovation skill development.

  • Inspire and further develop a culture of innovation, exploration, critical thinking, and problem solving to meet the ever-evolving needs of Woodward Academy.

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Stay abreast and engage in ongoing learning of current technologies, pedagogies and curriculum trends and collaboratively work to implement those initiatives that further enhance the strategic goals of the school.

  • Provide in-service training to faculty on an ongoing basis.

  • In close collaboration with the librarian and learning specialists, teach or co-teach student classes as needed to ensure optimal student technology/innovation skill development such as coding, robotics and design thinking.

  • Attend bi-weekly Academic Council and Innovation Team meetings to identify opportunities for technology/innovation integration, school support and faculty enrichment.

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Learning Design and Innovation to plan and execute the STLinATL summer conference.

  • Make recommendations for technology and pedagogy that supports curricular and administrative goals of the school.

  • Assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students.

  • Provide the vision to continually improve the BYOD program at the US.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is a minimum requirement, although a graduate degree in instructional technology or curriculum is highly desirable.

  • Experience managing instructional technology or curricular innovation in an educational organization.

  • Strong background in a variety of effective instructional strategies such as Design Thinking, Personalized Learning, Project and Problem Based Learning, Collaborative Learning, etc.

  • Extensive and successful background of teaching in the upper school classroom.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.

  • Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by position and as assigned by supervisors.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

This is an 11 month, full-time position, offering a generous benefit package. Salary is commensurate with experience.
