Position Summary

The Instructional Technology Support Manager reports to Director of Distance Education and provides instructional technology and design support specifically related to multimedia for online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses. Develop and facilitate instructional technology, instructional design, and multimedia training for faculty focusing on online learning pedagogy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Develops, coordinates, and facilitates training sessions, workshops, and other opportunities that help faculty integrate instructional technologies and multimedia that enhance the teaching and learning experience in online, hybrid, and face to face courses using teaching styles and methodologies based on individual or group needs.
-Identify and manage course review process for online/hybrid courses from inception to completion. Conduct online/hybrid course reviews based on research based instructional design and adult learning theory principles.  
- Provide faculty ongoing feedback and assistance to meet quality matters standards for online/hybrid courses at an acceptable level.
- Maintain knowledge of current, new, and emerging, technologies and curricular practices. Test and evaluate technologies and applications to assess feasibility of their adoption. Manage third-party multimedia contracts and multimedia inventory for the department.
- Collaborates with various departments at university to increase awareness, engagement and evaluation of instructional technology. Assists with leading major educational technology projects that require coordinating students, staff, faculty and resources, both within the Distance Education Department as well as across campus units.
- Designs, develops, and produces digital multimedia objects in multiple formats, including print, graphics, video, audio, and animation technologies to support a variety of coursework, departments and programs. 
- Generate and edit multimedia project scripts, storyboards, and outlines for production. Provide recommendations and training on the effective use of the elements of design, theories, and principles.  
- Manage, produce, and edit written and visual/multimedia content to communicate Distance Education Department initiatives, services and instructional technology status/updates to institutional stakeholders. 
- Editor and content creator for Distance Education website, communication plan, social media sites Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. 
- Educate and assist university stakeholders to ensure digital course materials, multimedia projects and instructional technology are compliant with current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 
- Oversee university captioning platform contract, metrics and training.  
- Develop strategies in collaboration with university stakeholders to identify high priority captioning projects.

- Ability to effectively use a personal computer and associated software including expertise in multimedia authoring applications, Internet programming languages (i.e. ASP, HTML, XML, JAVA, etc.), streamed media (i.e. Kaltura), web conferencing (i.e. Zoom, Adobe Connect, Blackboard Collaborate), captioning services (Cielo24, 3 play media), video editing (i.e. Camtasia, Adobe Presenter, Adobe Premiere) 
- Ability to effectively analyze and evaluate new technologies for potential applications in instruction.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate instructional applications of technologies.
- Ability to work well individually and as a team member, as well as with all members of the University community.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under occasionally heavy workloads.
- Ability to make effective decisions.
- Able to design and deliver workshops on curricular technology and practices.
- Keep current with instructional technology through self-motivated and self- directed professional development. 
- Develop and provide individual and group training. 
- Able to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form, to LMS users of differing abilities and learning styles. 
- Design and redesign course materials for teaching and utilizing new and emerging distance education technologies, web page production, and multimedia technologies.
- Create effective teaching and learning environments using alternative instructional delivery methods and online course management tools. 
- Implement best practices in the use of technology tools and applications in the University environment.

Physical Requirements

-Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work, and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Required Minimum Qualifications

- Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Curriculum Design or related field.  
- Previous experience in the development of educational applications and projects.
- Previous experience assisting educators in using technology to enhance teachings.
- Hands-on experience with software, hardware and audiovisual tools.
- Knowledge of web-authoring and design.
- A background check will be required of the successful applicant.
