Position Summary/Purpose of Position: |
The USDA Branded Food Products Database is the result of a Public-Private Partnership, whose goal is to enhance public health and the sharing of open data by complementing USDA Food Composition Databases with nutrient composition of branded foods and private label data provided by the food industry. Under general supervision, this position will assist in pulling in JSON data from data providers through an API into a MySQL environment. This position will enhance a previously existing PYTHON application for processing and disseminating these data. Responsible for design, code, tests, debug, documents, and maintenance of these applications. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
High School Diploma or GED AND Two years applicable programming experience. |
Preferences: |
Expert knowledge in Python, data storage and processing, and SQL database experience. Preferences: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming or a related field. |
