This position will manage various CTY technology projects. A proven background in business analysis, requirements gathering, project planning, project execution management, and project resource management is required. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of software implementation lifecycles and have experience leading multiple software and/or hardware implementations. Candidate will also develop and maintain key relationships with a broad range of CTY leadership, staff, faculty, researchers, instructors and contractors/consultants and acts as a primary project contact for key stakeholders in the business.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing an agreed upon project methodology (typically Agile) created by the IT leadership, ensures quality control of that methodology and contributing to the further enhancement of the methodology.
  • Work with project stakeholders across departmental teams to develop detailed business requirements for multiple projects that sometimes conflicting timelines and priorities; from concept to launch.
  • Work with the project team and IT technical areas to develop technical requirements.
  • Build and maintain project plans and reporting on project progress to milestones.
  • Serve as a professional source of advice and assistance on managing projects; trains or coaches other project leaders of the most important elements of project management, and assists them in addressing those elements.
  • Design and produce reports, agendas, and minutes for project team meetings; set up and facilitate meetings where needed.
  • Maintain project archives. Configures and maintains documentation and deliverables, etc. in central location.
  • Resolve problems and issues as they develop. Ensure the proper communication of problem resolutions.
  • Work with and/or manages the consulting services of vendors. This may also include the development of and adjustments to a project statement of work and determining vendor resource requirements.
  • Research new software, products or systems, including coordinating vendor demonstrations.  (May include testing on-line applications, contacting systems administrators, and interviewing students and administrators).
  • Internal department support; mentoring new or junior staff, improving methodologies or processes and support and preparation for Governance activities. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Five years related experience, with some project management experience required
  • 7+ years of professional experience with 3+ years’ experience managing complex interdepartmental projects preferred
  • Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Must build strong relationships with partners. High degree of empathy
  • Effective, organized, and concise written and verbal communicator with executive presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and proven execution capabilities. Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks. Proven ability to work under pressure, owning and meeting critical deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving and constantly evolving high growth environment

Required Special Skills and Knowledge

Extensive knowledge, and success with leading efforts in system configuration, solution design, testing and implementations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse pad and other office machinery
  • The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via telephone and face to face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings
  • Position also requires a degree of mobility common to working in an office environment; bending, kneeling or standing during events and presentations may be required.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
