The Opportunity

Avenues: The World School is widely recognized for our sophisticated use of technology for learning and innovative global school concept, with campuses connected across multiple continents through technology. 

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for local servers and network equipment across our New York campus. S/he will ensure all infrastructure and systems are operating smoothly and work closely with the local IT Service Manager and global IT Systems Engineer to achieve departmental goals. S/he will also support network and system-related projects including other related responsibilities assigned by the IT Systems Engineer.

The Information Systems and Technology team is comprised of outstanding professionals at the intersection of education, operations, and technology. With the advantages of modern technology and a highly-talented global team, they share a common goal to support the Avenues vision to eventually bring together 35,000 students and 3,000+ faculty members through a number of traditional and virtual modalities.

Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, troubleshoot and support all internal servers and/or network appliances/equipment and backups
• Install and upgrade systems, OSX and iOS images, and related security patches in a timely manner
• Provide innovative and creative solutions to drive ongoing improvements to improve the IT environment and service at New York campus 
• Document network and system procedures and processes to build technology knowledge base
• Manage additional projects/tasks as assigned by the Systems Engineer or IT Services Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have most, if not all, of the following:

• Energized by Avenues’ mission and opportunity for impact in education
• Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information systems or business administration
• A proactive customer service orientation, to approach challenges and requests with spirit of "yes" and provide excellent support to colleagues
• Helpful, thoughtful, and considerate
• Strong understating of OSX and iOS operating systems
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 2 years or more working in an IT environment
