I.T. Technician
Hours 37.5 hours per week Salary $ 28.18 to $ 31.15 per hour depending on years of service at SMS
This is a bargaining unit position in the Professional Employees Association
Summary
St. Margaret’s School is looking for an energetic, dynamic and self-directed individual to be responsible for providing various forms of computer-related technical assistance to a wide range of clients within the SMS community.
Job Duties
• IT Help Desk duties including, but not limited to: technical support of the network (LAN/wireless), desktop computers, laptops, iPads, projectors, cameras and other electronic devices / peripherals
• Develop and maintain various script/code based school systems
• Maintain the school website, e.g. posting content, cleaning out orphaned files, ensuring content remains relevant, applying security updates, web development
• Work closely with staff and students addressing technology needs as required
• Support the Network Administrator as required
• Support the Educational Technology Support Teacher as required
• AV support at school assemblies/events and in the classroom
• Documentation, technical writing
• Design and generate reports as required by your supervisor
• Other duties/projects, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required Experience & Requirements
• Bachelor level degree/diploma in an IT related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with scripting languages, programming, web development
• Knowledge of IT troubleshooting methodology, testing and evaluation principles, IT security principles and cloud technologies
• Must possess strong analytical and communication skills
• Experience with database management
• Experience with Mac, Windows, Linux based systems, hardware, software and peripherals
• Proven ability to work well in a team environment
• Experience in a technical support / help desk role
• Experience in an educational environment is an asset
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work occasional off-hours if required by your supervisor
