Primary Purpose:

 

Lead and work with district computer/network technicians in maintaining and repairing
computers, printers, displays, and related equipment throughout the district.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Network Technology preferred

 

Clear and valid driver’s license

 

A+ & Network+ certifications or equivalent preferred

 

Experience:

 

At least four years experience in computer systems repair, preferably in a school environment

  

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Technical

 

  1. Prioritize and process technology related work requests.

  2. Install and upgrade computer/printer/peripheral equipment. Maintain computer/printer/peripheral equipment that is not covered by warranty.

  3. Work with warranty vendor for support with computer/printer/peripheral equipment that is under
    warranty.

  4. Assist in training computer technicians.

  5. Assist with computer equipment ordering, installation, and inventory.

  6. Work cooperatively with end-users, other Information Systems Department staff, and vendors to diagnose and resolve hardware/software problems.

  7. Work with Network Administrator to troubleshoot, analyze, test, and maintain network infrastructure.

 

Leadership

 

  1. Schedule and prioritize emergency, urgent, and routine repair work and preventive maintenance.

  2. Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and work practices for identifying,
    reporting, repairing, and inspecting computer equipment for repair needs and/or deficiencies.

  3. Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and plans for maintenance and repair of computer systems and related equipment.

  4. Monitor and report on computer repair and maintenance data.

  5. Evaluate district computer/network technicians and report evaluation results.

  6. Coordinate efforts of district computer/network technicians to ensure district technology systems are repaired and maintained efficiently.

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals; small truck or van; motorized lift

 

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

 

Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders

 

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over)

 

Environment: Exposure to electrical hazards; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.

 

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
