Summary:

Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart seeks a full-time Learning and Innovation Specialist for the 2018-2019 school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for education and will promote a culture of curricular innovation throughout the School by facilitating professional development and growth experiences through co-teaching and empowering teachers to develop skills and plan projects that utilize innovative approaches to learning, include digital tools that empower students and foster active learning environments.

Experience teaching or leading youth in a K-12 environment is essential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • With a focus on innovation in education, research and assess current trends in collaboration with the Technology Director and Division Heads.
  • Establish strong partnerships with members of the faculty to explore new instructional methods and innovative technologies for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant and engaging Project-Based and Inquiry-Based Learning experiences.
  • Run on-campus workshops, trainings, clubs, design challenges, and other similar experiences for teachers and students for promoting innovation, risk taking, and entrepreneurialism.
  • Support faculty and students with the integration of instructional technologies such as DuchesneConnect LMS, Office 365 and Google apps, Stream, Teams, Tablet PC’s, DyKnow, Robotics, 3D design, and various Digital Media and STEM projects.
  • Collaborate and support the growth of our stem curriculum by planning lessons and providing instruction for faculty and students in areas such as 3D Design, Coding, Robotics, Design Thinking and the Engineering Design Process.
  • Provide first-line technical support for faculty in their My Backpack gradebook, and  DuchesneConnect LMS class pages.
  • Manage workshops and learning opportunities for faculty and students
  • Troubleshoot digital texts and software apps.
  • Support online testing by facilitating updates and testing of secure browsers and bandwidth on student laptops.
  • Provide positive leadership in the dissemination and implementation of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
  • As a member of the All-School Technology Committee, attend monthly meetings to:
    • Strategize and implement the Strategic and Technology Plans of the School.
    • Engage in ongoing learning to remain current in emerging technologies, trends, and research, to share and model effective practice in 21st-century teaching and learning strategies.
    • Maintain technology integration alignment between divisions, facilitate technology implementations and support, and plan budgets.
    • Participate in planning and design of professional development workshops for faculty and staff.
  • As a member of the Technology Department, assist in identifying and troubleshooting software, hardware and IT issues within the 1:1 program

Essential Skills

  • Professional written and verbal language skills are required
  • Knowledge of current classroom technologies such as Microsoft Office 365, Google Apps for Education, Learning Management System software, digital media applications and tools, and other collaborative and desktop sharing applications.
  • Ability to support a Microsoft Windows environment; experience working with Apple O/S and iPads is a plus.

Position requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Graduate degree in innovation, technology, instructional design, educational leadership, or related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years prior related work experience as a lead teacher or coordinator of innovation, technology, instructional design, design thinking, or professional development.
  • A passion for educational technology, instructional design, pedagogical innovation, and professional growth, and a capacity to instill that passion in others
