Job Description

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking an agile, customer-focused learning systems analyst to join our team. This position is part of our Academic Technology team and is focused on designing and supporting technology solutions that directly advance OHIO’s mission to be the nations best transformative learning community. This position will provide technical analysis and support for OHIO’s suite of learning technology solutions including the learning management system, student engagement and response systems, and related systems and services. The role of the learning systems analyst is to understand institutional needs and ensure that technology solutions meet those needs in alignment with institutional strategies and priorities. Primary responsibilities include application testing, tier 3 technology support and issue analysis, application administration, requirements gathering, process and workflow design, and leadership of small projects. A successful candidate will have a passion for education and technology, an ability to learn quickly, and a detail oriented approach to designing and developing enterprise scale technology solutions.

This position supports the Office of Information Technology (OIT) in delivering customer-oriented enterprise class IT services that are robust and secure while advancing Ohio University’s commitment to be the nation’s best transformative learning community. OIT is a service-driven, values-oriented technology organization that is dedicated to delivering high quality technology services to the University community.

Job Responsibilities:
● Solicit, analyze, and document system requirements; Use situationally appropriate strategies and practices to ensure stakeholder engagement.
● Recommend solutions that align with system requirements, best practices, and the technology ecosystem at Ohio University.
● Implement chosen solutions as a member of a cross-functional team
● Administer enterprise software applications for both on-premise and cloud-hosted solutions; Maintain a deep understanding of application features and capabilities
● Assist in the evaluation, design, and implementation of new or upgraded applications and systems  
● Develop test conditions; Execute functional and system tests.
● Manage small projects from concept to completion. Communicate with sponsors and stakeholders to ensure desired outcomes are achieved and that expectations are effectively managed.
● Isolate root causes of complex problems and identify potential solutions; Serve as escalation point for tier 3 application requests. 
● Learn new applications, technologies, and skills independently through hands-on experimentation; Keep abreast of current learning technologies and trends; Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and services.

Minimum Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience. 
● Ability to solicit and document business requirements using techniques appropriate to the audience and environment.
● Ability to independently manage work assignments. Ability to create work breakdown structure, establish timeline, and achieve desired outcomes. A strong sense of ownership and commitment to follow through for both individual and teamwork product is critical.
● Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly.  
● Ability to move forward in ambiguous situations that require new skills and practices.
● Ability to issue clear, concise, and accurate written and oral communications that are audience appropriate.
● Experience working in a team-focused environment. Demonstrated ability to work closely with others across functional boundaries and varying experience levels.
● Ambition for continuous improvement and high personal performance standards.
● Solid understanding of and appreciation for higher education, especially the role of a land-grant research university.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience with one or more learning technologies including course management systems, survey and evaluation systems, student information systems, video or multimedia systems, social media platforms, etc.
● Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with a large and diverse group of stakeholders and identify strategic needs.
● Experience with application testing and quality assurance methodologies and tools.

Department Information and Technology Office
Pay Rate

$53,000 – $61,000 depending on candidate’s experience and qualification. Employees also enjoy a generous benefits package including health benefits, paid time off, and education benefits for employees and qualified dependents.
