Due to Kennesaw State University’s unprecedented growth and increased funding and support for its libraries, the Kennesaw State University Library System invites applications for two entry-level librarians with a dynamic, collegial, and flexible to serve as Systems Support Librarians. Under the supervision of the Director of Virtual Services, the incumbents serve as members of the Virtual Services Unit, to guide the KSU Library System to meet the challenges of today’s complex higher education environment while working collaboratively to achieve the KSU University and Library Systems’ missions, goals, and objectives as part of a team for a multi-campus organization. These librarians will work partnered with the other Systems Librarian to provide support for Alma (the KSU library system’s ILS), the library’s webpage, and other library systems as needed.

We seek librarians who embrace the Library’s collaborative organizational culture and work to learn and develop professionally. These candidates will need to strive to provide innovation in the workplace, participate in data driven decision-making, and provide excellence in library services and collections. They will work to provide support for student success, collegiality, and our desire to develop leadership skills among all employees. 
The home location for these positions may be the Marietta Campus; however, these individuals will spend time at the Kennesaw Campus and other KSU sites as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:

Librarianship (80 %)

  1. Helps update, maintain, and troubleshoot library online systems in partnership with other members of Virtual Services.

  2. Serves as an undergraduate faculty liaison. Performs subject specific professional work including library instruction to undergraduate students, faculty outreach, and collection development. 

  3. Provides research assistance and reference services to undergraduate students and other members of the KSU community.  

  4. Maintains professional growth by broadening up-to-date knowledge and professional growth of relevant, current and best practices in academic librarianship for self and others.

  5. Effectively and collaboratively facilitates the work or others.

Service (5%)
Provides service to the KSU Library, KSU Campus, University System of Georgia, regional, and national professional communities (5%)

Scholarship (5%)
Maintains appropriate professional scholarship and creative activities. Contributes to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

  1. Embrace the Library’s vision to be an organization that provides continuous learning for all staff and librarians.

  2. Work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends and at various KSUlearning sites.

  3. Effectively facilitate the work of others.

  4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program or foreign equivalent.

  2. Impeccable written and oral skills. Ability to communicate appropriately within, and outside of, the library.

  3. Collegial attitude and enthusiasm for innovation with creativity in problem solving.  

Desired Qualifications

  1. Experience with the Ex Libris Alma system or similar ILS systems.

  2. Experience with Springshare products.

  3. Experience with website maintenance and support, including HTML, CSS, and PHP.

  4. Experience working in a consortia environment with a shared ILS.

  5. Experience in an academic library working in an online services related position. 

  6. Experience working with other library systems, including ILLiad and Ares.

  7. Experience providing library instruction and reference services.
